Hi

I'm waiting for my UMI Super to arrive, does it comes root unlocked, with SU?
I've a Samsung Galaxy S3, with Cyanogenmod 13 installed by me and rooted and have lots of Apps that require rooted phone.
I need that the UMI Super have the same option as in Cyanogenmod or a option to root the ROM.

Thanks

Marco Costa

Hi,

The touch screen issue of the TWRP recovery has been resolved, so now you can download a fully working TWRP. FOTA updates cannot be processed by TWRP (you need the stock recovery) or if your phone was ever rooted. That doesn't help if you unroot your phone. The only way to get FOTA updates again is to flash a stock ROM with SP Flash Tool. You can find them in the ROM section. No recovery updates wil be released for UMi Super.

Bence

Dear Marco,

UMI Super is not factory rooted. The following thread contains information and tools for rooting but the TWRP recovery for UMi Super can yet be controlled with an OTG mouse only. No touch screen support. A fully working TWRP will be available later.

I'm waitting for a Type C to Type A female cable to arrive.
After rooting and TWRP, does it update normal the ROM or I'll will need the download the ROM zip file and use the TWRP for the update/upgrade like I used to do on Cyanogenmod?

Regards.

Hi
So if I root the Phone won't be able to receive the FOTA updates?
The only way to update the ROM is to use the Flashtool and the ROM file at the ROM Subsection of the forum?
That file can't be used on TWRP?
After I upgrade the ROM using the Flashtool, I say goodbye to TWR and to SU or just the SU and need to go again using TWRP and the SU zip file to get Root acess again?

About restoring data from Apps I can use Titanium Backup (needs Root)
Sorry abou being persistent with this, but I realy need to Root the phone because I need to get fully working the GreenPower and Cerberus Apps.

Regards.

Hi,

The SPFT version of the latest update will be released as soon as I get it from the engineers. Ususally a few days after the release date of the FOTA update.
Yes, if your phone is rooted and has TWRP installed, you only can update it with SPFT. Then you can root it and install SU again. TWRP cannot use raw images contained by the SPFT ROM packages.

Sincerely,
Bence

Bence,

How to flash without losing data?

If you uncheck the 'userdata' partition (the last one in the list) in the flasher app, you won't lose your data. However, if you do that, the result can cause malfunctions of the updated system apps. Not obviously but it's possible.
