Dear fred973,
Please go to Setting --> Apps
1. Touch the 3-dot menu button at top right corner and select 'Show system'.
2. Scroll down to FprintMA and select it.
3. Clisk on FORCE STOP, then OK
4. Click on Storage, then CLEAR DATA and CLEAR CACHE.
5. Exit this menu and try again to calibrate the fingerprint sensor.
If this solution doesn't help, you might need to reflash the software of your phone with SP Flash Tool. You can find the latest version here: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-2939-1-1.html
