Application SmallWindow has stopped working - SOLVED

Hey guys,

anyone facing this extremely annoying bug - application SmallWindow has stopped working?
EVERY time I play a song in Google Music app this pops up, once "OK" is confirmed and the phone goes right to the lock sreen.

This stupid bug has made using Chromecast audio with Google Play Musing almost unusable.

I have never had this issue with any other phone. Just this one.
I tried to clear the cache (Google Play, Google Music, smallwindow app itself - no luck), Rebooted several times, Re-installed Google Music... no luck at all.
And of course smallwindow app cannot be disabled (unless I root, which I do not want to).

This particular bug is really driving me nuts.

We cannot reproduce your issue, the Google Play Music app works properly on UMi Z.
Please backup your data and flash the latest ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode to get a clean installation of the system software.

That's not good to hear:-/
I will not get rid of my Google Music library because of the phone, I would rather got rid of the phone itself.

I am really hoping that UMI will fix this soon. It has been working correctly on all other phones I tried, so obviously this is not a Google Music's bug.

With a rooted Z you could modify build.prop:

1. ro.agold.small.suspend.window

So in the end this bug forced me to root the phone and I used Titanium Backup to freeze the smallwindow app.
Rebooted and since then - Google Music finally does not crash on every attempt to play a song

I have the same problem with Google Play Music. I hope Umi will release a fix for this because I don't want to root my phone.

I don't see any problems rooting the UMI Z. It's easy, without any risk and 100% reversible.
