I don't know fully but I could think that your network provider using other network antennas for 3G and then you have R as roaming and when switch to 4G then using they own network antennas and R is missing as you are not in roaming.
Nobody is sharing 4G to third party providers as this is extra catch to keep customers with them.

I just recognized that I now got the 4G with R for roaming.  But why do I have to use roaming in the first place? I am in Germany with a German simcard. I did have this problem with my OnePlus one. When I turn roaming off in the Android setting I don't have an Internet connection. How can i fix this?

does anyone know why there is a little R for roaming is allways showing? i also have to let roaming turned on in the settings otherwise i dont have a data connetion. but i am in germany and got a german simcard.
do you have the same prolems?

Could you please tell me why you not reading my posts. There is full explanation why you have R on top bar.
R us mean roaming.
You can using Germany sim card in Germany but this doesn't mean that you are not in "roaming"
If you using third party network provider you will always have R on top bar and when you activate data connection you will not get notification on top bar over signal strength.
The third party network using other provider network so that why phone see as roaming.

Das R innerhalb Deutschlands bedeutet nationales Roaming. Es hat mit dem Roaming im Ausland nichts zu tun. Bei o2 ist immer ein R innerhalb Deutschlands. Also keine Panik.

O2 is the shittiest provider since ever. Believe me its not only you. Its almost 100% of everyone whom i asked. I changed to e+ but now O2 has bought off E+ now i am again at O2 but i will swithc to Vodafone or Telekom. Fuck u O2!
