I think a lot of people are interested in getting the new Umi Z..

But i think even more people are asking themselves if the everlasting "Umi Problems" are still existent..
I know it's early to touch this point but it is nice to get some comfirmation that a little more care has been given to the existing problems that need to be fixed to make these phone's really competitive in my opinion.

Problems that are in question:
- the TERRIBLE GPS reception and ability to lock and hold the position.
- Software updates/support (I know you have been improving with OTA's since the Super.)
- Wi-Fi Stability and reception...
and Fingerprint Sensor Stability

But also things like
- Being more active and interested in the end users ("forum.")
- Delivering promised OS upgrades. (Android 7.0)

I know this sounds a little ranty. But these things are really keeping me, (and i think a lot of others), of pre-ordering and buying the phone..

Hi, Thanks for your response.
- GPS
I also own an Umi phone using an older MediaTek chipset. If the problem really is with the chipset itself. I can understand it's not software fixable. But communication and an official statement is very useful in that situation.
- Fingerprint
I did read some posts about tripping fingerprint sensors on some devices. I have that issue aswell. It's just something to take into consideration may it be solved or not....
- Wi-Fi
My device has been quite stable. But I have read otherwise. Just another thing to take into consideration.
- OTA / FOTA
Ofcourse. I know random problems can pop-up when releasing a new update / OS. But keeping the users updated is the best thing to do in that situation. (Why I touched onto this point is that because for my device an update/new os had been promised but was NEVER released.)

TBH. I'd really like to have a chat with someone at Umi in the Software/Bugtesting department. Just to have a little chat . I (And i think we all) like to see this device really shake up the smartphone market in a good way.

Edited by MarcinP at 2016-12-21 00:33 \n\nHi
As you know currently is some issues with GPS only on devices fitted with mtk 6755 helio p 10.
As you know umi plus E got new chip p 20 and umi Z chip x 27.
I can't confirmed as this device are not in my hands but I presume that those chips improve issues from previous devices.
I never came cross with GPS issue with my devices. I know that some users complained about GPS issue but compare amounts complaints to amount sold devices is realy a little and this fault is production fault.
There was not realy issues with front finger print sensor on umi plus and same sensor is on umi plus E and umi Z which shouldn't cause any faults.
Wi-Fi stabilisation and range is good since umi super.
OTA / FOTA update currently is working correctly there was problem with umi max due to incorrect address server in software but no problem with FOTA /OTA servers.
Currently we working hard to answer all questions from this forum and help to all umi users.
About promising Android 7.0 update we still have 4 days left. Users need understand that if update is released this doesn't mean that in same day all users get update. There is so many outer sources which cause delays with servers update which is out the umi control.
I hope that this simple information gives you some update about umi new device.

Hi,

I'm really interested by this new Umi Z, but the GPS issue (or not) has to be clarified before, following internal test by Umi.
So what's the situation please MarcinP?

Otherwise, you indicate that the problem is mediatek P10 chipset, but some european test with Umi Plus E (P20 chipset) are still talking about GPS maters (it's slow, ...).

And sorry for it, but you participate to another topic here about the Umi Plus E problems = black screen, reboot, ...
http://community.umidigi.com/thread-6031-3-1.html

So...what do we have to wait with this new smartphone with new X27 chipset ?

Thanks
