Install the Android Wear 1.5 version. It works
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-wear/ ...

Well, there's always a risk, editing system files. However, this is pretty straight forward. If you edit the build.prop file on your computer, just remember to set permissions to 644 after pushing it back, before you reboot the phone.

Thing is, it isn't a bug. There are rumors confirming my suspicion of some payment feature in Wear,  and as such,  the devices need to be secure. (= Google certified) Effectively locking out all non official roms, obviously also some official. Perhaps we'll see two versions in the future, one with pay,  one without, but I seriously doubt it.

well,
i am using an official rom (unles clean android 6 on umi plus is not official) and still i am facing this issue with androidwear 2.
so downgrading to android 1.5 still keep all functions ok and there are no problems with the connectivity to my smart watch.
will wait patiently to any future updates or any new version of functional androidwear 2.0

Actually,  you don't have to root your phone. When you connect it to a computer using ADB,  you are root. Using ADB shell,  you can then remount the system partition read/write,  pull build.prop to your computer, edit it with Notepad (or similar), push it back, set permissions of build.prop back to 644 and reboot. All steps (get ADB working,  edit build.prop without root) are described in many guides on the Internet.
