Hi,

Just ordered a Umi Super in the UK from Amazon. But it is not from Amazon Direct, but a company called EKEYUK. They seem to be reputable and have been on amazon for a while. Will my device be supported for full waranty etc. having brought from them ?

UMI also have a link on Amazon. This comes up if you follow the simk on theis site, but they did not have the Umi Super in stock, only the Max...

An official response would be great.

Thanks,

Zuber

Dear Users,

As legal obligations the warranty is always provided by the seller and in the EU it must be at least 2 years long but with serious restrictions after 6 months. Any obligations of the warranty are never related to the manufacturer, except those special cases when that turns out, the product is dangerous due to bad design/manufacturing. The burning battery of Samsung Galaxy S7 is a such example but a simply bad working battery, screen etc. is not a such example. Since UMi is not an authority, we have no rights to take action on a retailer if they don't fulfill their duty about warranty. You always can request the local authority to assist you if needed.

So, our warranty page is just about to inform you about your rights, not to ensure them since that's not our responsibility, moreover, not our possibility until we don't directly sell our products to you.

Sounds like you are saying, Umi does not offer any warranty at all.
Any warranty is between you and the retailer.

WOW, that is a surprise. And this is not 'normal' for reputable brands in the EU at least.

I'm surprised retailers are happy to sell Umi products ! I'll have to see what my retailer has to say and then decide if I return the phone as soon as it arrives or not...

Of course, UMi offers warranty to their retailers since in that case UMi conducts itself as a seller. However, to offer warranty directly to the end-users is a special service (so not an obligation), that needs really huge investments to build a world-wide customer-support office network, that can investigate and resolve every single issue. Only those greatest world-brands can afford that.
