Just tried gps while driving to work today without the case as someone suggested. It does work a whole lot better . Searching for gps message came up once but gps loaction is still not accurate . Anything from 10-50 meters. By far the worst performanceof all my pervious phones new or old. Hope a swuodate will set it straight.

Edited by JVitor at 2016-8-1 10:07 \n\nI have made some track comparison with UMI C1 which is a GPS only device, and Cubot Cheetah and MA75, which are devices with GPS+GLONASS. See results here: http://community.umidigi.com/thread-4027-1-2.html

Today I had one Motorola Moto G (1st gen) and my UMi Super side by side running GPS test. The Moto G is so much better... Maybe this can't be fixed by software updates, I'm guessing it's an hardware problem. Does anyone knows for sure that the GPS issue can be solved with software updates?

I have just done the same with a very budget Alcatel Pixi3. The Alcatel is streets ahead, faster to aquire lock, much better signal strength and a solid position compared to the Umi where my position jumps and wanders 100's of meters.
The only way it could be improved in software is if there is a tweak to the gain of the gps signal. If its just a poor antenna then I guess we are just out of luck and will have to send the phone back.

Set location settings to GPS/device only, put both side by side at a fixed position and record a track with a software like OSMTracker or 7Ways Navigator (tick record track in navigation settings). You can then use the GPX files to draw the tracks on Google maps at this list: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map_input?form=google  (In track options set the color before choosing the gpx file, and then click in "Draw Map". In the window which will open copy the "view" link above the map and past here in the forum for comparison).

If the instability appears when "precise location" is selected in location settings, then it could be a software issue. Also, probably it's possible to tweak the firmware of the chipset on how to handle GPS and GLONASS navigation.

But then, I think there are too many complaints about UMI Super: bad camera and now bad GPS??? Too many errors for so much marketing.

The issue is pretty easy to see here, Alcatel on the left, Super on the right, both using gps only
