Nice selling strategy. Once again consumer has been fooled.

Dear users,

UMi Touch X is the budget version of UMi Touch with no fingerprint sensor. Neither its promo video nor the official product page contain any information about the existence of a fingerprint sensor.
Promo video: https://youtu.be/mN2YFplRC-8
Official product page: http://www.umidigi.com/page-umi_touchx.html
The fingerprint pattern as a graphical object in the name 'Touch' is in accordance with the meaning of the word used as this brand name. You use your fingers for touching and a fingerprint pattern symbolize touching.
Main features of any UMi products are always highlighted on the product pages without mentioning such features that are not available.
Although, our goal was not to mislead anybody, we apologize for any misunderstanding and inconvenience that happened.

Regards,
Bence

Now, I realise that none of these peices were written by UMi but they are the sort of place people find out about your phones and they must have got an indication from you somewhere....

As for the "fingerprint" logo, that seems purposely misleading to me.

At no point in your official documentation do you say in has a fingerprint scanner but it is HEAVILY implied due to the above points.

It would behoove you to communicate with official resellers and have them put a large disclaimer to stop other customers getting bitten. As for those of us that have already been burned perhaps you should upgrade us to the Touch.....

I'm afraid I don't know about any official resellers that advertise this model with fake specs. The sites linked by you are tabloid sites that don't always care about the reality. To publish real news and specs would be their own responsibility.
There are also other UMi smartphones with fingerprint sensor (Hammer S, Fair, Iron and Iron Pro) but no one of them contains a fingerprint pattern in their brand logo since that (as I mentioned) not about functionality but in accordance with the meaning of the name. I sincerely ask you to let UMi as an independent company to design its own brand logos by their own ideas.
I apologize again for this misunderstanding.

I wasn't saying that any official resellers were advertising fake specs, I suggested that you tell them to make a point of the fact that there's no fingerprint scanner.

You cannot claim that your marketing team didn't realise that the consumer would interpret that logo the way both OP and I did....

I to bought a touch X under the impression that the X series was a scaled back RAM and CPU version of their namesakes (Rome and Touch).  While I am disheartened by the lack of fingerprint sensor I realise UMI are not at fault here and everything else about the phone is most pleasing.  I am in the process of leaving comments on any article I can find referencing a fingerprint sensor on the UMI touch X, not wishing anyone else to experience my disappointment.  However not everyone reads comments, so perhaps UMI could undertake a similar exercise, contacting the publisher directly.  I would be happy to list all sites I find here for you if you wish.  I realise vendors should not have to specify what their products do NOT provide, so perhaps we could stop people getting false expectations in the first place.  I believe this would prevent future customer dissatisfaction.

Dave Cottrill

I can only second that all info I could find on the net was giving me the impression that a fingerprint sensor was included. Replacing the touch x by a touch would be a nice gesture recognizing that the advertisements were indeed misleading especially since on umidigi.com I was unable to find specs or info clearly indicating that the
touch X with fingerprint sensor
is shipped without he fingerprint sensor.
