As much of a modder I am and how much I love CM. I too am a little skeptical about the purpose of this pole. The more the merrier. Here's the ideal situation tho and what Im sure the company best course should be.

Continue working out all the bugs.
Release Android 6.0.1 as of yesterday.Open source as much of the code as they can and this way the community can have at it.

Honestly it wasn't the specs that convinced me to buy. It was the forums and how Umi is making it clear they support development. Even tho this is an MTK chip, Umi makes it clear that they want to be of the few devices that aren't going to let it get in the way. If they can. I'm coming from the OnePlus One which is a Rom &  feature rich haven. Right now thanx to Xposed (+GravityBox), I enjoy this phone. Only thing I miss is screenoff gestures, double tap to wake and sorta nfc.
