I am not a fan of the included 'Messenger', 'browser' and 'Calendar' apps and prefer the Stock Android ones which I have downloaded from play store.
I have no problems with Messenger and Chrome, but with Calendar, I get duplicate notifications, even though I have switched off Notifications in the included Calendar App. Also, when I remove the 'Calendars to See's in the app, it also then removed this from my Google Calendar App. It's almost like the app is linked too deep into the econsystem. It has never behaved like this in other ROMs.and is frustrating.

Dear syanide,

You may try to solve your problem by disabling the Calendar access permission of the stock calendar app.
1. Go to Settings --> Apps
2. Scroll down to Calendar (you can identify the stock one by its different icon) and tap on it.
3. Select Permissions and disable the Calendar.

Regards,
Bence

Hi Bence, thanks for coming back to me.

I've done this also, and strangely the notifications still occur!! I even went one stage further...first i excluded the "notifications" and then i denied the permissions. Once the permissions are denied, it is not possible to 'open' the app - which i though would be enough. but, nope! Still the duplicate notifications.

Also, why is not possible to 'disable' the standard installed apps. I know you might say this is because it might cause problems, but I have done this in the past in my Nexus's without any issue.

I have Calendar version 6.0-1476672712 and also prefer to use the google calendar app.

I was able to go through Settings->apps->Calendar->Permissions and disable "calendar" permission to stop the double notifications, but now I keep getting a permission error when it tried to send a notification.

It would be nice to be able to replace the default calendar app with the google calendar app, or other calendar of choice.
