Well in my case, with my Umi Iron Pro and with a Umi Suoer friend, we push the metal antenna up and a piece of something on the pieces metal back to make sure they not laydown after close the cover.
Result was miracle it catch 21 satellites on street and 6 up to 9 inside home.
Done the same, but haven't tried the GPS yet, however the compass is still rubbish, always points to bottom left corner of the phone, and my arm is aching from doing figure of eights, rotating the phone around its three axis does nothing either.
GPS works well on my device. I think some devices actually have problems with the antenna.
I am dissatisfied with three things on my device:
1. The data connections, it is very unstable. The connection changes much too often between 3G and 4G.
2. The camera. But you can live with it, if you do not have too much requirements.
3. The battery life. I get well over the day, but the consumption is clearly too high.
Not all have problem with the GPS. I had a dedicated Garmin GPS which failed, now I only use the super for driving and it does the job. Sorry for you who have problems
