I have just received my Emax. Using the stock camera app with default settings my pictures are horrible. On my previous cameras THL W8 beyondand Doogee Dagger, the 13 Mp cameras have been excellent - true 13mp not as I suspect 8mp with interpolation that UMI claim to be 13, Those cameras have no noise and sharp images - quite acceptable full screen on my TV, but these are so noisy

they are unusable. I have inserted an example here - it is a crop  ( 1754x1496 pixels) from a larger image. Is  this especially poor or is this typical? Indoors it is even worse with rectangular blocks of noise all over the picture.

Not looking for weaknesses. Just trying to work out if camera is defective or working "as well as can be expected". I believe the ROM is the latest and different camera apps appear to make little or no difference. I would not have bought this phone if I'd known the camera was this poor. It is not as if I hadn't done any research and this forum is one source of information that had set my expectations high. How perfect did you need the lighting to get the photos displayed earlier in this thread? And how well does it work indoors for example?

Edited by chickens at 2015-8-30 14:58 \n\nLooks standard for an eMax camera, so it's working "as well as can be expected". Can you post the whole photo? Thanks.
Camera optimization is just really poor at the moment, still hoping they'd do some adjustments for the Lollipop update.
In my case, the lighting does not need to be perfect, most of my pictures are point, focus and shoot. Also I don't like to edit my photos after taking them.

Sample of an indoor point and shoot. I used Google Camera app.

I dint know, but, actually, im not satisfied with these pictures what i make with emax with different camera apps... Its too noise, the details are missing in this noise everithing looka like made from squares. I will post them here, and will make some photo with my Samsung Galaxy S2 (its a 5 year old smartphone with 8 MPixel camera.) With stock rom that camera made so good pictures, but with aosp abd cm roms its looks almost like emax photos...
