Edited by justnatural at 2016-3-5 22:51 \n\nHi,

I have had no problems for about 1 month of use.
Since about 2 weeks now, I keep having a frequent random problem: the screen will remain black when pressing the side power/unlock button. It is verry irritating and I always have to remove the battery or hold the power button+ the down volume key in order to see something on the screen. Somethimes it doesn't even get well after the first reset and I have to do this 2-3 times in oder to see the UMI logo. After the OS boots up and the screen times-out again, there's always a risk of not being able to see anything on the screen the next time I want to use the phone.
This happens frequently and is really ruining my experience. I had no problems with this phone and always praised the good quality and price of UMI products.

I know for a fact that I am not the only one why has this issue. There are multiple videos on yourtube showing the behavior - If the manufacturer does not release a fix for this problem in one week, I am going to throw this phone and buy a more reliable brand. I know it's cheap because the support is low, but this issue is really blocking me from using the phone - someone should care about this problem...
I hope an UMI official will see this post and provide a solution.

Thank you in advance for your attention on this matter!
Have a nice day!

P.S. : The Adaptive Brightness setting is off and I encounter the issue regardless of the manual brightness level I use. The Kernel version is 3.10.65+. Build number: UMI Rome.V3.01

Hi

Have you had any luck in getting your phone working. I have the same problem as you have.

Have you sent your phone back to the supplier? I'm thinking of sending mine back. I will wait a few days, hopefully UMI will come up with a solution....fingers crossed.

Edited by justnatural at 2016-3-19 06:07 \n\n Edited by justnatural at 2016-3-19 05:58 \n\nHi!

I flashed the phone to version 3.03 using Rootjoy. Now I don't have the mentioned problem during normal use anymore. Only when I chose to reboot from the Android menu - then it happens 100% on the first reboot and maybe on the next 2-3-4 times. But other than that, the phone is now usable... No thanks to anyone form UMI... this forum is dead and buying a phone from UMI is a total gamble... You never know what you are going to get. I wouldn't do it again, but I am glad I can at least use my phone now.Sending the phone back would be of no use - I would lose too much money and time in order to just get a fraction of what I paid for the phone back. It's just how it is with China phones - You get a bad problem and you can throw the phone away... Luckily this was not the case now, but the phone could have turned into a brick and I would still be barking at the moon now...

Dear,
I think the best way is replacing the LCD screen, you should contact with the reseller which you purchased your Umi Rome and apply for warranty. There is a website for your reference: http://community.umidigi.com/for ... 6orderby%3Ddateline

Dear jo@jo1234,

There is no problem with the LCD screen because now it works until I reboot the phone. After I get it to work again through about 5-10 trial and error battery disconnects it will be OK until the next reboot. This is clearly a software issue that UMI is too lazy to even try and investigate/fix. UMI is probably too busy releasing new phones, but people will have all the reasons to not trust them when they read all the problems on the forums.

Today I discovered another problem with my UMI Rome:
I bought a new scale which uses bluetooth to connect to my phone and when I try to pair the two devices, I get this error:
“Couldn’t pair with 01257045A0990A because of an incorrect PIN or passkey.”
I tried numerous times with no success and thought that the scale was defective. Then I got the idea to try my old Lumia 820 running Windows Phone 8.1 to see if it connects. Guess what? The connection was made instantly! So this is just the second major problem I am having with UMI Rome.
I am starting to believe that this low price I paid for the device was not worth this lack of after-sales support.

Anyway, in case you have some helpful information about any of my problems, please try to help me and change my opinion about UMI products.

I have the same problem of black screen after rebooting. The phone is unusable. i have to remove the battery and try many times before I have the ohone again running. It does not seem to be a problem of screen, but a software problem, because, once the telephone is running, it continue to run for weeks, unless it is switced off. After this, if you switch it on, it will not run, unless you remove and reinstall the battery many times (the first time it never works). Why UMI is not preparing a new sofware issue to avoid this problem? Excet this, the phone is running OK, but sometimes it is hard to make it running after it is swithced off or restarted.
