Hello,

I have a brand new UMI Rome

Unfortunately the Camera has more noise than picture, lots of red vertical stripes or hortizontal black and white stripes across any picture.

What can I do to fix this and improve the picture quality?

regards

Amazingly, this seems to have fixed itself now! All I done was to switch between the video and still picture modes for all the noise to clear away.:

All the noise has returned to the front 13mp camera, no amount of switching or changing setting will clear it. Advise please.

Took the battery out and put it back in again. Camera working perfectly again, WTF! Maybe a loose battery causing this issue??

UMI should reply to you, but they are in a long chineese holiday now. It seems they are always in holiday on this forum.
Nothing related with the batterry. I think your problem is a poor conectivity between the camera and the board. Try to open it and press the camera connector. This should fix your problem. You are lucky that is rhe rear camera and it reachable after you open the inside black cover. Or firstly press firmly on upper back side (around the camera) this could fix your broblem without to open it, but remove the back cover first. An other manufacturing issue. I had a problem with the proximity sensor wich fortunately I managed to fix it.
Good luck !

Hi UMIRome1,

On the other hand, if you report a such problem, that's quite useful to attach a sample photo instead of or beside describing the issue by words. If you had done that, I could have guessed that whether it can be a software error or the result of a defective/damaged hardware. In that latter case I don't recommend you to disassemble your phone by your own but you should send it back to your reseller for a replacement.

Regards,
Bence

Photo as requested Bence, and your best guess as to the problem? IMG_20160214_091644.jpg

That's definitely a hardware defection. Since the appearance of this error is not consistent on the whole picture, I don't think that's just the result of a bad connection (although I'd give it a try to reconnect the camera module) but more likely a defection of the camera sensor.

Ok, thanks for all the advice, I will return it to the re-seller for a replacement. I really like this phone, everything else works perfectly and when the camera is working perfectly the pictures are pretty good for a phone camera. Its miles better than the iPhone I had.
