I dared contacting the UMIDIGI support asking for the latest Android Security updates.
Oh well, this didn't go down so great... Here's what I got as an answer:
Ben commented:
Hi,
We release security patch updates only if a vulnerability gets discovered. By the way, Google never informs us about upcoming security patch updates and they never assist us to apply them. Please don’t believe everything.
Please be patient and trust our engineers will do their best to solve every vulnerability we detect. That list of vulnerabilities do not affect our phones, any security issues were never discovered in our phones' system.
You can find all updates here: https://community.umidigi.com/fo ... display&fid=125
Please note, only high-end models of some world brands enjoy 3-years long support but UMIDIGI do not manufacture high-end devices. We release 30 new models in 3 years and that’s physically not possible to keep so many devices updated.
Thank you for contacting us and have a nice day!
Ben changed the status to Done.
Ben resolved this as Won't Do.
In simple terms "Ah no! We're too busy producing more and more models, we surely don't want to waste time and money into keeping them up to date. If your phone is outdated, buy a new one from us"
It's not working like that, UMIDIGI. If you treat your customers this way, they won't buy another phone from you. There's plenty of competition with similar products at similar prices.
A shame really.
