Is this post to be considered an official statement from UMIDIGI ? May we consider it as an official advertisement ?

Then Could you please explain to us -simple and naive customers- which miracle is this, that you are able to provide android 7.0 out of the box with MTK6757 and 6Gb LPDDR4 for Z1/Z1 Pro when you kept repeating for monthes that this was not possible for Plus E, that share the same specs ?

PS: to all umi-fanboys here, if you don't mind being fooled and cheated, that's your concern.

Dear Users,

UMIDIGI Z1 and Z1 Pro is built with MT6757D SoC, which is a newer variant in the Helio P20 family and was initially released with an Android 7.0 based SDK by MediaTek. The presence of this phone and its processor adds nothing to the possibility to release an Android 7.0 upgrade for UMi Plus E, that features the first release of the Helio P20 SoC, the MT6757 without any letter at the end. Anyway the same MT6757D SoC will be used in Alcatel Idol 5S, which will be released later in this September, so you can imagine, that's a newer processor, not the same kind.


And just to add it again:
1. UMi Plus E was never advertised with installed or future Android 7.0 system from the day of its release date, when you were already able to buy or pre-order it, at least not on official UMi sites, that are or were controlled by the company.
2. UMi has always been and is still committed to release an Android 7 upgrade for the Plus E (it's our interest as well) but that is not possible due to hardware restrictions. It's not up to UMI, MediaTek and other hardware manufacturers are also involved. That's quite pointless to claim, that upgrade is already possible since you as an end-user don't know that and no, it's still not possible.

For me, I will boycott the brand as long as I am alive and whatever happens. They don't deserve to exist, it is the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life

Hmm will be interesting to see what will be said or done now, either way I will now be very skeptical when buying any Umidigi smartphones which will most likely direct me elsewhere, there are many options to choose from to be wasting energy complaining, it gets to the point where you have to simply learn the lesson and take your money elsewhere.

Yep, you're right. But as much as possible, before it realy gets annoying for us, other people deserve to bet warned. And UMIDIGI deserves to be teached a lesson. There muist be some valuable individuals in there, but the company has major lacks of skills. And they does not seem to be willing to improve.

I've had my umi plus e for around 4 months, great phone, I'm gutted like you guys about no 7 or even any custom ROMs obviously with out the code can't be done not sure about all this media tec stuff tbh but after rooting and getting exposed and gravity box running so much better just not sure about this umi company pumping out phones so fast she as I love the look of the new pro

If umi really don't bother giving us an update to 7 what about getting a petition together to get the code from media tek our selfs ? Is it possible to create a custom ROM say Linus os with tools available and splicing the new ROM from the z1 or pro ???
