Stuck on checking connection

Hi all,

I recently updated my Umi Iron to version 1.6 via rootjoy but now when I try to set up my phone on my wifi it is stuck on 'Checking connection, this can take a while'. Before I even updated my phone I couldn't connect to my wifi but that didn't really matter as I had my mobile internet. Is there any way I can skip this step altogether or does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

dont do anything at all, I decided that since it is stuck there I will reboot the phone and now my Iron is bricked, but to be fair it is most likely that during that reboot my usb port burned out and caused the battery to turn off and thats why my phone is bricked but if that is the case what this tells you about quality of the phone, I had it one day
