Hi all. Had my Plus E since a preorder over Christmas, and all is fine (bar the camera being just about average), but today I seem to have a major issue:

My phone was in my pocket and I felt it get VERY HOT. I immediately shut it down, and let it get cool. Then I rebooted and it's fine but the screen display brightness slider now no longer works and my display is stuck at about 25% brightness, meaning the phone is pretty much useless except at night.
I'm done a complete rest of the phone to see if it's a software issue, but it's still the same.

Can anyone offer advice. I assume that as the phone is only 6 months old it's under warranty, but are there any other suggestions besides 'send it back'?
It took an age to get from CooliCool! :-(

Thanks

Mark K

Hi
Check the forum. 9 out on 10 times, the answer is: "Factory reset, flash".
Let's bet this will be the case here too.

HI. Thanks for coming back to me. I tried a Hard Factory reset today and unfortunately it's the same thing... brightness level is stuck at about 25%.
I'm now assuming the extreme battery heating (which must be faulty?) has damaged the brightness sensor or something?
I guess it's a hardware error given I completely reset the phone to new and still have the issue.

Damn... only 6 months old and this phone has serious issue... I understand it's relatively cheap compared to an iPhone or Google Pixel, but even so... Have to admit I'm very disappointed.

Unless anyone has any further ideas, I guess an email to coolicool support for a return repair... to China! Damn... guess I have to buy a new phone in the meantime too... not a great day...

:-(

Quick update...
My 6 months old UMIDIGI Plus E has been getting VERY HOT again... too hot to touch, and the brightness level is still an issue.
Email to Coolicool reseller who have asked for a video of the brightness issue, which I have sent them.
They came back to me today and said that the phone is out of warranty (how? It's only 6 months from new), and that I am to take it to be repaired locally and send them the quote for repair for confirmation.
I have been told I am entitled to $10-15 USD compensation for my trouble.

What a load of boll**ks...
Amazing spec phone on paper... but the reality of it in my experience and customer service dependency on resellers is shockingly poor.
