Hi all,

I'm having issues since the OTA 7.1.1 was installed on 3rd June. The System is not allowing to change (add primarily) device administrator rights to additional apps. Tapping the checkbox on the right of the app, it lists all the admin rights credentials to be added. The last three lines "activate this device administrator" , "cancel" and "Uninstall app" all three tap areas are completely unresponsive. This has been working on factory release 6.0.1 version before. However 7.1.1 installation has removed all but "Android Device Manager" device admins.

In addition I've tried to install an apk without success. The apk was downloaded to the default download folder. I did allow to run apks from unknown resources temporarily (this is a trustable app, therefore want to install it), but the "install" tap area does not work either. Checking details on file manager, the apk is readable and writable however it is stated not to be executable (which then makes sense the install does not work). Anyhow I didn't get it to be executable, even with "unknown resources" allowed during download.

I've changed language from German to English (US) just in case of language or locale differences, I also rebooted the device several times --- No LUCK :-(

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards
Oliworld

Hi there try to navigate to Settings->Security->Device administrators tap not on the checkbox itself but rather on the menu item, navigate down and tap Activate this device administrator. This works perfectly on my phone.

If this doesn´t work for you then you can try factory reset (some old settings could be interfering with the update), or the OTA might went wrong and in that case I suggest reflashing with SPFT. Good luck.

perfect answer, thanks a lot

Edited by Oliworld at 2017-6-9 17:19 \n\nThanks @Medard22 for your help. The method you described did not help first hand so I had to do a factory reset (with all the pain to reinstall the apps, set the APN i.e.) to clean up any leftovers from the former Andriod version. I now can set device administrators and install APKs again.

Thumbs up for your perfect answer.
