Well I recorded some 4K and 1080P footage and it just looks HORRIBLE!!
I transfered the footage to my pc, and it turns out that's it's only 17 fps....
There is just no detail in the video.
It also looks very over-sharpened.
I think you can fix the low detail by using a higher bitrate. (software update)
But does everybody have the very low quality, low bitrate, very oversharped, low fps issue???

The 4K recordings i have tried to make looked okay, but i have to admit i dident look at the specs of those recordings.

I will try that the very next time ( soon ) i go to visit my tree swing friend in the local rain forest.

Okay i have tested this, and it is the same here.
4K recording are 17 FPS and 18 mbit, and 18 mbit are about the same as my old and "slowest" 1080p dashcamera

In contrast the 4K recordings i made today with my Sjcam SJ7 Star are 60 mbit, and 25 FPS ( by choice as i am testing the local PAL functionality )

So yeah the Z are surely lagging here lucky for me i would never record video with a phone camera, but still its there and it should be working better, even if it was 25/30 FPS 18 mbit are just wayyyyy too low bitrate.

I think they can fix the low bitrate with a firmware update.
(I have the SJ5000X Elite )

Dear Users,

The video fps and bit-rate is never constant. As soon as the shutter speed gets slower (goes under 30fps) in low light conditions, the encoder won't save the non-captured frames, so the output will have a lower fps value.
On the other hand, if you speak about bad quality or any strange values of a photo or video, please don't forget to share them together with your thoughts to let other users (or me) to see and analyze them.
Thank you.

Edited by Daphone at 2017-5-9 06:24 \n\nMy testing was in low light i have to admit silly me i am well aware of CBR AND VBR.

I will do a new test tomorrow in daylight, my living room are quite dark to suit my general mood.

Just a little freaky the exposure would drop below 1:30 second for video, but off course if it can do that then the footage can not be 30 FPS unless the camera start to cheat and use frame doubling like some action and dash cameras will do to make footage appear to be 60 FPS.

I think there should be a cap on such things, its no good if you thing you are filming video of something in a dark place and then the output are more like a time lapse.
So better to have the viewfinder be dark so the user can see it is too dark here to record a video, instead of recording " video" with much less FPS than you generally see in videos ( 25 / 30 FPS )
With that slow exposures you cant record anything moving that fast, even walking speed will be hard to get a crisp non motion blurred recording off.

I have just tested in daylight and yes now the footage are 30 FPS and 42 mbit, so VBR are in play for sure.

It are still too bad the camera drop to so slow exposures in low light situations  you cant make up 25/30 FPS out of it, that i do think need to be fixed, cuz 17 FPS video are not video like i myself and i assume other people in the world define video.
