no 3g signal

i has been using the umi rome x all this time and i only have edge connection
i suppose to have the 3g
there are some way to get it?
with out root the phone
because the phone must to work correctly with root or those things
right?
am using the sim card en the 1stSimPlace
just if some one ask or suggest that
my carrier is unefon/iusacell/at&t in cancun mexico
