Hi and sorry for my weak english.

I'm in France and using Umi Super for 2 days.
The embedded SMS application doesn't satisfy me and I've tried ALL alternatives in Google Play..... NO ONE does work !
Impossible to send a message. The original UMI sms work fine...
Another french forum member PascalFr has the same issue..... http://community.umidigi.com/thread-3331-1-1.html

I'll not speak about the weakness of 4G signal, deconnections, and Fingerprint sensor issues, but please, if I can't install and use a choosen application on my phone, no way I keep my UMI.

Do something quickly.

Textra seems to work ok but I do seem to be not receiving various SMS when using textra or standard sms app.
Also getting message not sent notifications in both apps many hours after sms originally sent.
Becoming a very frustrating experience overall.
More FOTA please Umi!

DO SOMETHING QUICKLY - Will not get attention, please understand that this is a new phone and development is still early. As like all new phones it takes time to get everything working correctly "teething issues"

**FIX **

To fix this issue open the messenger application
press skip if you can see a picture of a mobile
then top right of the screen click 3 dots
Select settings
DEFAULT SMS APP - select "Messenger" as your default TXT message application.

This should then resolve the problem with SIM selection.

Exit Messenger application and re-open.

I Tried Textra first: same issue... the message can't be sent, retry indefinitely....

Hi and thx for your answer, but....
Tried your fix with Textra, Handcent, Go sms, Mood SMS, Google Hangouts and Google Messenger: same issue "sending sms failed"...

put the app in the white list of the background clear task in setting. I think that will solve the problem.

Sorry a quick answer in french.
I have solved my problem.
1) Remove your SIM CARD
2) Reboot without SIM CARD
3) Reinstall SIM Card ... with precaution
4) Answer to  the Android question about setting of the new sim
5) Now I can used every SMS application  

Step 4 was not present at the first installation ...

Sorry for my approximative  english

The ONLY ONE SIM card in my phone is still see as SIM 2 ... and my SIM card is installed in SLOT1 (see link at the beginning of this post)

J'ai réglé mes problèmes.
J'ai oté la SIM ... rebooté l'appareil sans SIM.
Remis la SIM correctement et rebooté ...
Au Boot le système m'a affiché un msg relatif à la nouvelle SIM et m'a demandé si je souhaitais activer les nouveaux paramètres ... ce que j'ai fait (pas souvenir d'avoir eu ce msg la première fois)

La j'ai pu désactiver l'appli native et utiliser l'appli de mon choix (messenger puis au final QKSMS)

J'espère que cela pourra t'aider.

Alors la, chapeau Man !....

Super bien vu, je viens de faire la manip et ça fonctionne nickel. Ca n'a l'air de rien, mais cela me mettait très en colere de ne pouvoir installer l'aplli de mon choix (en particulier pour utiliser des sms programmés).
Merci encore de ton aide.
Si je peux un jour te renvoyer l'ascenseur, ce sera un grand plaisir !...
