Phone freezes at random + black screen

In the past few months I've noticed that, after being turned on and left idle, my phone won't wake, either via fingerprint input or via the power button. The screen lights up a bit but remains black. The only way around this is to turn off the phone altogether (by holding the power button) and turn it on again. This is almost a daily occurrence. Does this mean my UMI Super has reached the end of the line? Is there a fix? I'm currently running Android 6, more specifically the 20160708 build.

Definitely firstly you should perform factory reset or flash ROM again.
I fault comeback this would indicate hardware fault.

Thanks for replying! Since I'll probably try and flash the ROM, would you recommend upgrading to the latest build? Is it stable?

I have no problems with latest firmware version (android 7)
But you can have some troubles with touch sensitivity if you have older versions of digitiser.

Can't seem to flash the phone. My computer doesn't recognize the drivers when I connect my phone on the USB port. Could it be an issue with Windows 10?

Well, my phone's now stuck on TWRP recovery. No idea what to do.

To your second and third questions, I downloaded the UMi_Super_V7.01_201710123_update.zip file and ran it from Recovery since I can't get the SP Flash Tool to work (the VCOM driver is never recognized in Windows 10). It worked, for a while, until I decided to continue updating via the phone's own update feature. I don't remember what build the phone identified as the next update but I think it might have been build 20170413. However, when it booted to (TWRP) Recovery I could not immediately find the downloaded file. Eventually I did by sifting through a few folders but I got an error when flashing the file. I tried to re-flash build 20170123 to no avail. I assume build 20170123 is the first build of Android 7, correct?

If you want android 7 unfortunately I can only recommend latest ROM of android 7 but this needs to be done with SPFT and PC.
Also you NEED use FIRMWARE UPGRADE to get full and stable system.
To get android 7 via OTA you need perform factory reset and update one by one from this list

There is harder install vcom drivers on Windows 10 but rest of process is working fine.
