What can offer a smartphone for $ 89 nowadays?
Over the past few weeks we have seen Chinese phone makers release phones for under $100, some for as little as $70. And for the money they have all looked pretty good, but as prices creep lower so does the amount of RAM available in them.
The answer gives you the UMi Rome , with the design, features and price, this phone could be one of the most affordable smartphone .
UMi Rome has 5.5 AMLED "HD 2,5D display and MediaTek MT6753 octa-core 1.3GHz  SoC, well 3 GB of RAM , 16 GB of internal memory , Battery 2,500 mAh and Lollipop Android 5.1 pre-installed. The phone has the intricate CNC’d chassis visible around the edges of the device.
Impossible not to notice how the rear and the lower frame with speaker and micro-USB socket of the device then are guided by Galaxy Note 5 (also the shape of the camera is almost identical), although in the render below the similarity is slightly less marked.
Umi Rome was priced at $ 90. At this price these parameters look great.

Hi Bencebacsi -this phone looks nice doesn't it ? But here we go again - camera sensor : umi facebook says imx179 , retailer advertising says imx164 . Could you explain to them (again) to be honest/consistent with their own and third party publicity , otherwise the trusting (what is left of them ) umi buying public might dicover there are other discrepancies between what is promised and what is delivered , ahem.
And also - where is it possible to get this st $90 ???????! Not in this world , from what I can tell.
Give it your best shot

Hi,

The official specification page also says imx179, so let's believe that. On the other hand, I don't have abilities to convince other people about my opinion. This campaign is something that I also can't understand but it's changing. Now you can buy the UMI Rome fro $100 that even much better than the $120 that I saw recently. This phone is definitely worth that price.

Best regards,
bencebacsi

Hi again . Yes I see that - spec sheet and umi's own ads say 179 . But it says 164 in the banner ads that look as if they have been simply copied and pasted from the umi ads. So someone has bothered to change the info, question is-who and why, and ultimately which is correct ?
Maybe in translation it might read as if I am criticising you ... far from it , greatly respect what you say. I just hoped you could get clarification from umi.
Incidentally , if it's a unibody , how do the sims get into the positions shown , and only one side has been illustrated so what about yhe sd card too?
Regards.

Ok, I've sent your question about the camera sensor to UMI. No, that's not unibody, the back cover is removable.

Edited by tothemax at 2015-11-24 05:44 \n\nIt doesn't look as if it would be unibody , but I quote '' The UMI ROME features a unibody shell that extends to the back...'' See what I mean ? It's not clear . Unless they mean the back cover comes off, but the battery is non-removable . It's not just a question of which sensor , is it unibody or not ? It's why is there this conflicting information, and what else is there that might be divergent?
Are you ok, you seem really fed up? I 'm not asking you to be an apologist for Umi and I'm not attacking you, just hoping for clarity .

No problem, you can ask me anytime. At most I can't answer. Please, let me not to comment those words that you quoted. UMI Rome is obviously not a unibody construction. The eMAX Mini also has a removable back cover but non-removaable battery. So, that's weird but possible. I'm working now with that phone and had to completely remove the internal back frame (a lot of tiny screws) to be able to remove the battery. And that voids the warrananty, of course.

Hi , it's been a while , did they confirm the sensor ? I am guessing they didn't , you would have said so . So what should we deduce from this?

By the way , yes I see the thread about the camera sensor , that's just more repeating umi ads , in my opinion. I am interestrd to know what they told you personally.

IMX164 should have been a typo, since as far as I know, that's not an existing model.
