Hello.

I was on the latest ROM (April 2017). I tried to install the TWRP recovery module on my UMI Super according to the instructions on this site. I had the right TWRP module, the scatter file from the April 2017 ROM and the latest SP flash tool.

I followed these instructions:
http://community.umidigi.com/thread-2962-1-1.html

After I successfully flashed, TWRP loaded but the touchscreen wasn't working. I booted into Android and realised that the touch screen works all over, but that the touch points seem to all be registering much higher than expected. It is as though the screen is just really badly calibrated.

I saw this thread, which seems to be for a very similar issue to the one I'm having:
http://community.umidigi.com/thread-7594-1-1.html

That thread suggested flashing the 20160923 ROM. I tried this (but just the zip file) and it didn't improve matters. I then successfully flashed the original recovery menu, but things didn't improve.

I tried a factory reset and this didn't help either.

I then tried flashing the entire stock ROM for v3.01_20160513 (found on XDA) using SP flash tool, but this also failed.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? :-(

Edited by mrlghw at 2017-6-1 15:22 \n\nI just flashed the entire ROM (via the RAR file and SP tool) for version 20160923 and that seems to have fixed things. :-)
EDIT: I just wondered if the issue was flashing TWRP from Android 7. I tried again with the "good" 20160923 installation and the same thing happened. I flashed back to stock recovery again. It seems that there is an issue with the TWRP provided in the guide. Perhaps it would be a good idea to make that clear? Are there two different versions of the touchscreen module and the TWRP img provided is only good for one?

Yes, there are at least 2 different touch screen hardware versions, and also TWRP versions. You have to use the right TWRP for your phone.  Post time 2017-6-1 20:40

I could only see one TWRP in the root instructions thread...

True - There's no instructions covering all bases. TBH, I wouldn't expect UMi (or any other phone manufacturer) to provide instructions (complete or incomplete) on how to install 3rd party software on their devices.

I agree, Mats. I wouldn't expect it either. But they do, and the instructions that are there are wrong and causing multiple people (evidently not just me) issues. Bad instructions are worse than no instructions in cases like that. :-)

Do you know where I might find the other version? I saw a second one on XDA, but I'm not sure if it's the right one or not.

No idea, actually. I just took a version, and it worked.
