Hi UMI users,

Im thinking of getting the upcoming Plus E(xtreme) and seeing that there isnt much difference from the base model with the exception of greater RAM & Storage I was hoping a few exisiting Plus users could give me their opinion on their device?

What are the Pros & cons etc ?

im still debating whether to go for the Plus E or the Elephone S7....

Decisions, decisions!!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply GlobuS!

Yeah, Ive heard the GPS is kinda......umm......Shite

But guessing this is a software issue(?) which could be fixed with a OTA update - or when they update to Android 7.0?

Have UMI released any firmware updates as yet? and have UMI themselves commented about this issue (I cant find a response) ?

I seam recall hearing on a Youtube review that UMI said it was an issue with power saving mode - which I beleive is incorrect.

Thanks again, regards!

I really like the phone build quality and performance. Audio issues (low call volume) and faulty gps make it a "DO NOT BUY" phone for me. I reverted back to my previous phone and preordered a Xiaomi 4 :-(

Edited by Poveirinho at 2016-11-19 06:54 \n\nGood afternoon umi users,

I am a user of umi iron and I have now purchased umi plus and these are my conclusions for anyone who wants to buy a good and cheap smartphone.
When I bought umi iron I can say that so far, it works fine, but there are some problems that could be solved if the umi developers did not stop with the updates. The great part of the problems comes from the software that due to the diverse launch of new smartphones does not allow the improvement of the O. S. of its smartphones. And from the comments I've seen on blogs as well as on YouTube, and compared to other competing brands, they also have problems like umi's. Although some more and others less ...
And if you notice, umi at this moment is in a phase of growth and their goal is simple, make us testers of them until they get a leading model of the market, and at that time I bet with You that the phablets will not be within the price now practiced.
Now it's up to each of us to decide between buying a Samsung smartphone (example) from the previous version or being a betatester of the rising Chinese brands ...
Poveirinho

I think the major concerns for getting an UMI is accessories. example:
1) USB type C cables - I have experimented with 6 over brands and none of them can be used with UMI Plus
2) Screen Protector - even the official one from UMI does not work well with umi plus, creating the halo effect

it terms of functionality, i face the following with my umi plus:
1) GPS does not work well
2) the sound level on calls is very soft
3) camera auto-focus is hardly right

You may want to hold on your purchase and see if these issues are rectified, because if it is, I would highly recommend UMI

Edited by sskanth999 at 2016-11-27 11:07 \n\nThis is my genuine review as a Umi Plus User.

Pros

1) Very good looking phone as any other standard company flag ship device.
2) Display is good
3) No lag in performance
4) Battery charges in 2 hrs

Cons:

1) Not a good battery out there in the market. Screen on time ( SOT) is around 3.5 to 4 hrs for 4000 mah where as my bluboo maya max gives around 7 hrs with 4200 mah (Which Umi disagrees and says 4 hrs screen on time is good and we should not compare with low MTK processors but as the processor is better it should give more battery time)
2) Phone gets heated up after playing 3D games
3) Camera is very poor. HD doesn't work at all
4) Phone doesn't have Dragon Glass and if we use Tempered Glass provided by Umi touch is not responsive and if we don't use that we have fear of glass braking down.
5) Based on other people responses it seems that GPS is weak, I have not used GPS Yet.
I have bought UMI Plus E also thinking there won't be such issues and if it is same then I will stop buying Chinese phones and go for branded phones.

If they resolve all the above issues it will become good Phone. Not sure about other chines phones like Elephone how they look or work
