Edited by brazbill at 2016-7-16 21:25 \n\nHello,

My UMI is down since friday morning. I just unplugged it from USB cable (in the car) and it just switched off.
I tried to charge it but no sign of charging (even the led light was off).
I disassembled it unplugged and plugged the battery connector.
After assembled it I could start it. The battery was very low so i charged it (led charge was on). The % went down to 2% so I switched off to fastening the charging.
Unfortunetly I couldn't start it and no charging led.
I try to disassemble it but no sign of charging.
I'm stucked and need help.
Can it be the battery?
Everything was well up'tll now...

Hi,

The car charger might have damaged the charging electronics of your phone but not obviously. If you can remove the battery, you should try to charge it with an external charger. Some connections can be established at the corners, you don't have to use the very small stock connector. Beside that you should try to use another USB cable and wall charger for normal charging. Don't use your car charger anymore.

Hello,

I charged the battery by the corners for 5 hours but it wasn't full 78%.
I switched ON the mobile and worked fine.
I noticed that the back of the mobile is hot (~48°C --> Temperature of the battery with AIDA64).
When I tried to charge the mobile it seems to charge but very slowly even when switch off.
I will try a normal charging all the night ...

I charged all the night and I reached 96% but unfortunetly, the consumption is huge (battery is warm). It decreased from 96% to 30% in less that 4 hours. Usually, I could stay for 2 days.

Do you think it's only the battery which is damaged or also the motherboard ?

I had a very disappointing similar experience. I have purchased 2 new Umi eMAX Mini phones 2.5 months ago from a seller who bought them in Germany (I live in Serbia). On one phone battery lasts very short with moderate usage - 5-6h. On other phone problems with battery started after 2 months of usage - when battery is full - you can use it for 1 hour with LCD and WIFI on using Facebook or some other similar demanding app. After one hour phone just turns off, and could not turn on again until it is connected to charger. Battery graph shows normal drop from 100% to 75% and sudden drop to 0%. Charging again rises battery to 100% very fast - 30-40min. I have tried various tests - with airplane mode ON, battery can last max 2.5 hours until some demanding app is started. Tried with battery stars reset also - no luck. Different clean OS (lewa, CM) - same. Same time as problems with battery started - there was a loss in touch screen sensitivity and blue spots on screen. I did not pay much attention to it because I thought it was not connected with battery problem until I have opened back cover and noticed that metal plate covering the battery is distorted - battery was seriously swollen and gained almost double in thickness - pushed aluminum holding plate from one side and screen on other side making pressure on it (blue spots and problems with touch sensitivity). I was a pure luck that I noticed it on time. Battery in that condition could explode or make serious damage if you continue charging it. I have disassembled the phone - removed aluminum plate from the battery carefully - connected battery again to phone (still not assembled completely) and charger and turned phone on - without metal backing on battery, there was on pressure on LCD and blue spots and touch sensitivity problem were gone. So only problem was low quality TCL battery which died after 2.5 months
Since I have no warranty for this phones, I had to order new battery on AliExpress. I can not be without usable phone until battery arrives so I had to purchase another phone (not UMI - but also well known China brand) . I have ordered only one to see will it have same symptoms after same time. If batteries are only problem I will replace also battery in another phone which lasts very short.
Battery markings indicate production date 2015/04/15? - phones are 2.5 months old and they had same - 50% charge in battery first time I turned them ON. Was TCL putting old or defective batch of batteries in new UMI eMAX mini phones? Maybe...
Defective battery:

Many thanks for your testimony DaniMill. I had exactly the same symptoms.
I think you're right, the battery is deffective and could explode.
Il also ordered a new battery by Alliexpress.

I hope that the electronics on the motherboard are not damaged.
I will check the production number of the battery.
What is pityfull is that UMI doesn't recognize anything (no sign of Bencebacsi).
I also was obliged to buy a new phone (I choose Asus Zenfone 2).
