Hello,
I own both UMI Touch and UMI Super.
For several reasons, as anyone already knows, the Super is a more performant product than the Touch.
But, the missing double touch to wake feature is a big drawdown for the Super. The reason is simple: if you have the Super on a table and you just have to unlock it, you have to search for the power button instead than double tapping comfortaly on the screen. And if you use the fingerscanner? Is worse: you MUST take on the device because the scanner is on the back (in the Touch is on the front). And if you are in you car? In case the screen turns off (if you are not on the navigator it happens), it's very DANGEROUS searching for the power button in order to wake it up. In this case too the fingerprint scanner is useless: it's on the back! So please dear UMI programmers: your company made a very good product in my opinion, so please do not waste the chance to make it great for this little thing. Leave the users the chance to decide if (or not) to "waste" a little percentage of battery in order to have this important feature. All good devices from mid range to the flasgship ones, do have double tap to wake option: it's unbelievable that the Super is still missing it! (The Umi Touch came out with the first firmware version with that option active).

Sorry, but I must to say, that double tap to wake is very nice function. And I can not see any argument why this function is not implemented to flag ship, when was implemented in other company models as is TOUCH. The same situation is about function " Flip Mute". When the phone has an incoming call, flip the screen down, phone will muted. I want these basic functions on my phone. I bought first time UMI TOUCH, and both of them, was there, then i thought UMI is good company, I will buy his flag ship. And whats happend?? For UMI SUPER these functions are not implemented. Then I must agree it's unbelievable that the Super is still missing it! It is a shame.

Why should I waste just a second of my time in the search for a solution of a Super Device? I shou ...

Since U wanna go there, let's. I simply was helping, regardless of how dumb your reasoning/excuse is. Double Tap to wake is a good feature nonetheless. If ya time so precious and it's too much effort to employ the many options to alleviate your stupid excuses. Why spend the time complaining? U brought it up, now fine. U either gonna do something about it or not. Which kind of man are U, a winer or a solution solver.
I mean let's get real, what did U do b4 double tap to wake even existed. Because that is a relatively new feature and many android OEMs don't have it implemented yet. Samsung the top manufacturer doesn't have it.

I believe it has to be possible via the screen capabilities. Well the ability to keep the digitizer on while the screen is off. If so, then it just has to be enabled in the kernel. Any UMI staff or engineer care to chime in?
Seriously it's a great feature to have considering their isn't a physical front button.

That's the dumbest argumentation I've seen in a while lol!

I've never ever seen someone asking for double tap to wake for safety reasons in the car. Man, you're not supposed to use your phone in the car at all, if you forgot about that!
It should ring a bell with you, if you consider it too dangerous yourself...

Lmfao at this case he made. I just had to read it for a good chuckle. Your "problem" is solved several ways. Most obvious is change the screen timeout when U get in the car. This can be automated for you via Trigger App (set it to change whenever connected to your car bluetooth for example). Another option is to remove the lockscreen security all together or via trusted connected devices (Again Car Bluetooth) and thus not needing to use the fingerprint scanner (fumbling with your phone) or swype a grid (looking at your phone). Another option is via Xposed that has some modules allowing U to change media tracks screen off without looking (although your radio can do this). I hope U aren't texting while driving. If U must (I don't condone this), get SwiftKey or Swype so that U can 1 handed respond without looking or dictate your response.
In all seriousness tho. If double tap to wake is possible, UMI should enable it making our lives easier.

Now i see why there are so many road traffic incidents ..

Development for this phone is still ongoing, it may well be something we could see in the near future.

Please for your safety and everyone else on the road do not play about with your phone whilst driving.. in the UK it is banned.

Dear Sierra,I often use my device as a navigation instrument.
For that purpose we can download hundred apps from the play store including Google maps or Deivemode app. Google and many android developers have developed android car systems in order to use it in car or previously installed in car by the manufacturer.
I think that dumb is a device that turns off the screen after that for whatever reason (a call?) send the navigation app in background and to reactivate it you have to search for a mini button, sometimes covered by the smartphone car holder. For this reason tenth of simplified in car interfaces are being developed for safety reasons (all those companies invest hundred thousands dollarsfir a dumb reason).
A double tap on the screen is not prohibited and does not distracts you from driving.
A device called Super or Flagship must have a so basic feature like this.

Why should I waste just a second of my time in the search for a solution of a Super Device? I should just find it in the settings as in the Thouch. 1 second and the feature is active and workingperfectly. Your solutions are just patches to a missing feature.

I never bought the Umi Super because i found it never had DTTW.
If the FP reader had been on the front it wouldn't have been so bad.
Umi claim they got rid of DTTW to save on battery life, but come on UMI it has a 4000MaH battery !
Once you have used DTTW you will never go back to a phone that doesn't have it.
It's a must have feature on any phone nowadays.
