I have been using my UMIDIGI phone as a simple garden assistant this season, and it works better than I expected. Every Sunday I take a photo of each plant from the same angle, and the gallery makes it easy to compare growth and spot yellowing leaves early. I also keep the planting date, watering days and feeding schedule in the Notes app, and a repeating alarm reminds me when it is time to water or feed. For leafy plants like lettuce, spinach and lawn grass, I read about high nitrogen fertilizer and note which plants need more of it, since nitrogen mainly supports leaf growth.
Another tip is to raise the screen brightness manually when you are working outside in the sun, so your notes stay readable, and to back up your progress photos to cloud storage before the season ends so you can compare them next year. Battery life has been good enough for a full day in the garden without charging. Does anyone else use their UMIDIGI phone for hobbies like gardening? Please share your favourite apps and tips in the comments! |
