Hey so my touch arrived yesterday and got stuck in the google setup screens (couldn't go forward kept reprompting) so I had to power off..  This was a mistake as now my touch boots up with just a black screen:

black screen, system icons only

black screen, system icons only

All I can at this point is hold power and get the reboot/power off prompt:

All I can do :(

All I can do :(

So I thought maybe I'd try recovery (hold volume down + power on boot until umi logo and then release) - but it's er.. very chinese and, well, I'm not!

I love china, but not Chinese sorry

Does anyone know what to do to factory reset the phone on this menu?

Thanks for your help!  Phone looks nice but it's a brick atm!

If you push volume down and power buttons you'll enter in chinese recovery mode.
You have to push volume up and power buttons and you'll get the english recovery mode.

I found someone who knows a little chinese and they say the menu is a test menu with perhaps the following options so I am in the wrong place for factory reset:

The two blue highlighted lines:
1st line: factory mode
2nd line: something test (cannot see clearly the first two characters)

The seven lines below (not high-lighted):
1st line: manual test
2nd line: single item test
3rd line: test report
4th line: debugging test item
5th line: cancel eMMC
6th line: version information
7th line: restart phone

I had a play - to find the recovery:

power off.

hold power + vol up till UMI logo appears, now release buttons
Wait till you see the android with 'no command'
Now press power and vol up together (I THINK!) and the recovery menu appears!

Now I can factory reset..

Pressing next, says "just a sec" and then returns to the "Get your apps and data" screen

From that screen no, but repeatedly trying it eventually it bombed out and dropped me to the home screen... and then.. some time later downloaded my apps/settings anway.

Bit buggy this but we're getting closer

Dear, if you press the "power" and "vol-" at the same time under the power-off condition, your phone will enter the factory recovery mode, you should press the "vol-" to move down the cursor to select the bottom option, then press the power button to enter the recovery mode.
