Hi,

In both Umi Rome ROM version 3.03 and 3.04, I have this problem whereby Whatsapp will stop receiving calls and messages after a while when the screen is off. It will only start receiving them again after I launch Whatsapp, but a while after screen off, it stops receiving again.

Does anyone have the same problem and hopefully, a solution to fix this?

Also, in ROM version 3.04 which was updated via RootJoy, the phone repeatedly reboots itself after a while while screen off. I have tried factory resetting it but the problem persists.

Hopefully someone here has a solution for this too.

Thank you.

Hello,

Some other users also experienced random reboots after installing the 3.04 version with Rootjoy or even with SP Flash Tool but choosing the 'Download Only' option. I suggest you to flash the 3.04 version on your phone with SPFT but choosing the 'Firmware Upgrade' option.

Hi,

Thank you. I will try that. Do you have any solution for Whatsapp not receiving calls and messages after the screen went off for a while? This makes the phone unusable for me as I have to constantly open the whatsapp app to check if there are messages and often missed calls.

I don't remember if anybody else reported a such issue about Whatsapp, so hopefully that ROM flashing will solve that problem as well. I don't have a UMI Rome in hand to check out your problem and to find out a solution is needed.

Hi,

I have an UMI Rome in v3.04 installed by flashtool in "download only" mode and is working perfectly, but as Bencebacsi says, try to flash with "firmware upgrade" only. I don't have problem that you are explaining with whatsapp. I hope after flashing v3.04 in firmware upgrade mode, problem will be solved

I just tried flashing the phone using SP Tools in "firmware upgrade" mode and the whatsapp problem still exists.

I am still not receiving any message or calls till I open the app itself.

Have you activated the auto syncronization for whatsapp in the Settings/Accounts menu?

I don't see that option under settings/accounts.

But this whatsapp issue of not receving messages and calls only happens on wifi. It works fine on data.

I checked Google Play Services connection status (dial *#*#426#*#* in phone) and for wifi, it gives constant failed connection status like :

21:26:39 1: Failed Connection ev:1 state:3 err:25 net:1
21:26:39 1: Failed Connection ev:1 state:2 err:25 net:1
21:25:47 1: Failed Connection ev:1 state:3 err:25 net:1
21:25:47 1: Failed Connection ev:1 state:2 err:25 net:1

However on data, it connects fine.

On wifi, I pinged google dns server (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and mtalk4.google.com and it can ping with no loss, so I am puzzled by why connection failed.

I have another phone on the same wifi and whatsapp works perfectly fine on it including connecting to mtalk4.google.com for heartbeat so we can safely eliminate the router from the equation.

I don't see that option under settings/accounts.

I just was doing different tests on UMI Rome with wifi ON and executed *#*#426#*#* to check events and I didn't receive any of these errors.

Also I was trying sending whatsapps with Rome screen switched off and wifi connected and is working fine.

In your case, whatsapps messages are not being received just after switching off display or after a time with screen off?

It happens after a time with screen off. Thereafter, even when the screen turns on, it does not receive anymore till I manually open whatsapp itself.
