I'm trying to flash ROM to eMax with sp flash tools method explained here: http://community.umidigi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=11
But there seems to be a problem.

I followed all steps explained in documentaton:
1) I'm using 32 bit Windows 7 and installed both drivers
2) I pressed Download button at sp flash tools
3) I pressed volume down and keep pressing it, and plug USB cable
4) MTK COM port seen by Windows
5) But flashing does not start
6) I waited about 10 seconds more pressed volume down and release it
7) About one minute later an error window appears:
BROM ERROR: S_BROM_CMD_STARTCMD_FAIL (2005)
[BROM] Can not pass bootrom start command! Possibly target power up too early.

Any idea what's wrong?

After posting my message, I tried that too (without pressing volume key). But result is nearly same. I just don't get BROM ERROR message. But  flashing process does not start.

I haven't done this. I just press power button one second. Power menu pops up, I click power off. That is the way, ı power off before flushing.

I tried firmware option and  pressing power button for 10 seconds does not work. It does not flash. But I noticed if I try to flash the phone, it is hard to open phone in phone mode. So the phone enters flashing mode. And battery drains too much and after unplugging from USB, pressing power button does not start phone in android mode. First time I though I bricked the phone and panicked Then I plugged to the wall charger, and pressed several button which I don't remember and finally phone boots up.
On the other hand I have 2 log files from SP Flash Tool. If these files are meaningful, I can post them here.

I can't upload log files here as attachments. Than I uploaded in dropbox. Here is the link for log files:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/60vs8psdtmkfovq/SP_FT_Logs.zip?dl=0

On the other I use two different drivers:
1) VCOM driver provided by this UMI website:
http://community.umidigi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=11
driver link is:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/ ... wX1JFNG8/edit?pli=1
When I install this driver, when I connnect eMax, windows pops up driver name as "PreLoader USB VCOM Port"

2) Another VCOM driver from this website:
http://www.tablette-chinoise.net ... -5-1-lollipop-t7207
Driver link:
http://thetechnolyte.blogspot.co ... -in-windows-81.html
When I install this driver, when I connnect eMax, windows pops up driver name as "MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port"

But both drivers gave me same result.

I installed 3 different operation system:
1) Windows XP 32 bit
2) Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit
3) Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit

All operating systems gave same result:
I press download button at SP Flash Tool. When I plug in eMax to USB port, driver pops up, but flash does not start. I press stop button at SP Flash Tool, and remove USB cable, then I cannot start phone easily. So It must enter in flashing mode, but no flashing occurs.

I found a youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAxTCvRmlio
In this video (about 6th minute), It was told that, to be able to see driver pop up, phone battery must be disconnected. On the phones that has non-removable battery, there should be reset button like. If there is no reset button like UNI Zero, you should open UMI Zero's case and de-sold the battery.

I'm not sure If pressing 10 seconds power button makes the same effect as removing battery. On the other hand video says, if battery is not removed, you may not see driver pop up. But my problem is somewhat different, driver pops up but flashing just don't start.

I need flashing to change IMEI, and if I can't change IMEI, I can't use eMax. I'm just at the steps of using another phone instead of eMax. I wasted too much time to flash it. I installed 3 different windows and installed 2 different drivers on each. I fed up.

Edited by coolman at 2015-7-30 16:00 \n\nI noticed that at the bottom of SP Flash Tool window there is an area that displays driver connected. It displays USB: DA Download All. But I believe it should be MediaTek PreLoader VCOM Port. So SP Flash Tool does not use MediaTek PreLoader VCOM Port, but why?
Look at attached picture

I installed 0715 using flash tools and I got the error first when I tried to press volume down when inserting the usb, but I was successful when I did not press the volume down button.

Forgot the drivers but I installed PDANet4180. Didn't remember what it said after flashing though. I believe I was getting "Get friendly name failed! Err(13)" when I was pressing volume down.
