This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V1.3_20200801 system software
for
UMIDIGI A7 Pro 128GB

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,
never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI A7 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Changelog:
  • Camera HDR mode bugs fixed
  • Black screen bug when switching camera mode fixed
  • Charging animation added
  • Wrong text in Network & internet settings fixed
  • Other minor bug fixes and system optimization
Update error fixed in V1.1_20200704 OTA update file

FOTA version: UMIDIGI_A7_PRO_V1.3_20200801

SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorial: http://bit.ly/SPFTguide

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6763_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A7 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
  • Connect your UMIDIGI A7 Pro to USB.
  • Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
  • Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
  • Wait until the flashing process finishes.

If you accidentally formatted the flash chip of your phone, visit the following thread: UMIDIGI A7 Pro: Repair IMEIs, MEID and Google certificate

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
  • Go to Settings → About phone → Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update:
It can update version 202000702 and 20200704 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
  • Your phone boots into Recovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy + 'No command'.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The update process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation, you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the recovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Used the SP Flash tool to flash it in firmware-upgrade mode and set up the phone as new.
The new update constantly turns off accessibility leaving most apps unusable.
Turning off battery optimization doesn't help as apps are still getting closed.

And I am seeing an error message in recovery mode when wiping cache.
E:Fota installation aborted.
E:: No such file or directory.

Received FOTA update  UMIDIGI_A7_PRO_V1-3_20200801.   Now all my "widgets" do not function properly.  Either totally are unresponsive or have to get into settings and back out to get widget to load and display.

The same here. Copy detailed description from other thread:

I have A7 Pro WW 128GB. After FOTA update UMIDIGI_A7_PRO_V1.3_20200801, Microsoft Outlook application stopped working correctly. It fails to install Device Admin app (which is required by my Exchange server admin) and asks for installing the admin app every few minutes or after phone reboot. I tried to reinstall the app, recreated accounts, remove other MSFT applications etc. Nothing helps. Logcat shows that OS is killing Outlook process, which shouldn't happen:
2020-08-11 11:20:33.526 1179-1209/? I/Atlas: [ScreenNormalClean] Prepare to kill processes: [Process{mProcess = com.microsoft.office.outlook}]

Also when the app is launching logcat shows following error messages:

2020-08-11 13:16:17.405 27760-27902/? E/outlook.Accounts: BrokerAccountServiceHandler:bindToBrokerAccountService: [2020-08-11 17:16:17 - bdcea108-74ce-4da3-844c-d914fa0437ac] BROKER_BIND_SERVICE_FAILED:Failed to bind service to broker app.  ver:3.0.1 Android 29 (BROKER_BIND_SERVICE_FAILED) - null
2020-08-11 13:16:17.406 27760-27902/? E/outlook.Accounts: BrokerAccountServiceHandler:getAuthToken: [2020-08-11 17:16:17 - bdcea108-74ce-4da3-844c-d914fa0437ac] BROKER_AUTHENTICATOR_NOT_RESPONDING:Get error when trying to bind the broker account service. ver:3.0.1 Android 29 (BROKER_AUTHENTICATOR_NOT_RESPONDING) - null

Also Microsoft Authenticator, other widgets fail to work in background
Is it possible to install earlier version?

After turning on some of the apps I'm having issues with.
Making sure they are working correctly.
And connecting the phone to the computer and issuing the following command:

./adb logcat >adb-logcat

I am seeing stuff like this in the logcat file.

lines relating to Mi Control Center

Screenshot_20200816_163312 adb logcat micontrolcenter.png

lines relating to Tasker

Screenshot_20200816_185220 adb logcat tasker.png

lines relating to Navigation Gestures

Screenshot_20200816_191303 adb logcat navigationgestures.png

The apps seem to be getting turned off when the screen times out (turns off).

Not sure if the apps are crashing or if some app in the ROM is turning them off for battery optimization.

After turning on some of the apps I'm having issues with.

For me, apps are turning off without turning off the screen, if I exit an app, it automatically gets killed. E.g. if I leave 'Snapchat' and go on 'Youtube', I don't receive snapchat notifications because the app (Snapchat) got killed. Please fix this, admin.

Is there a way to root the A7 PRO? I tried magisk (without TWRP) and once I'm done I get "Orange State" which normally should be fine, but it gets stuck in a bootloop afterwards. Cheers!
