This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V1.0_20181016 system software
for UMIDIGI Z2 Original version

Click on the picture for an enlarged view

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,
never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI Z2 receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Changelog:
  • Slippery Gesture function added (the bug of its first release in version 0928 fixed)
  • Settings search box crash bug fixed
  • Updated APN settings
  • Improved face recognition
  • G-sensor calibration issue after OTA update fixed
  • Power save manager is disabled by default
  • When the battery is being fast charged, ''Charging rapidly'' message will be shown at the bottom of the lock screen
  • Minor bug fixes

The system will show UMIDIGI_Z2_V1.0_20180622 as Build number after this update but the real version is V1.0_20181016.
FOTA version: UMIDIGI_Z2_V1.0_20180622_20181016-1652

SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorial: http://bit.ly/SPFTguide

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6763_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it (if your computer is connected to the internet) or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI Z2 if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI Z2 to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal memory of your phone
  • Go to Settings --> System --> About phone --> Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update: >>>>> UMIDIGI_Z2_V1.0_20180622_20181016-1652_update.zip <<<<<
It can update version 20180622_20180928 only

Update file for manual OTA update: >>>>> UMIDIGI_Z2_V1.0_20180622_20180928-1646_update.zip <<<<<
It can update version 20180622_20180829 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts (the boot screen is displayed), then immeduately release the power button and keep only the vol-up button pressed until your phone boots into recovery. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • Here you can see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy and 'No command'.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

When you buy a phone with lots of issues that doesn't work and you happily receive an update message, but the update doesn't work, too.

Well finally i get full up of the umidigi phon ...

Idk how to tell you but at least the secondary rear camera is real, you can test it in the factory test mode, the second front one on the other hand it is possibly fake since there is no test for it. It's just that the software is not there, they don't have a proper api to interact with the second camera.
Just as a heads up, next time don't try to seem "smart" without knowing the full story.

Well finally i get full up of the umidigi phones, support and so on.
This phone cost me about 200€ and i bought it via Aliexpress. I explained them(Ali customer service) about the camera issue, flashlight and rotation and i send them the conversation with offcial umidigi technical support telling that is necessary to send back phone  (this is for all those people are having the same error: app gone and fail to open camera)
Please see the video i did showing that 4 cameras are a real fake selling marketing argument.
attached my google drive acces:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/ ... xG/view?usp=sharing

Feel free to see how i solved my camera problems (temporaly) and i show how this phone is only working with one camera on the front and one on the back.

Send me PM in case you can not watch it.

After 5/6 failed attempts to upgrade to UMIDIGI_Z2_V1.0_20180622_20181016-1652 via FOTA, fortunately in the afternoon my Z2 Original was able to install this update. As for previous fw update (you can call me lucky), rotation works, camera app is still alive and working, camera focus is not so fast but works fine, no phone reboots (2 SIM/no SD installed).

A suggetion for future updates: selectable ringer for 2 SIMs usage.

Focus seems to be better on this release (still doesn't seem to work quite as well as the 0726 release).  Almost there.....

This update won't install. I have tried twice and everytime it starts installing the update and halfway through it says 'Error' and reboots.

Any advice?

Please just fix Bokeh effect and upgrade to Android 9.0 and I will be so happy. Umidigi's tech support is very successful and effective
