Can you tell me how to get USB PD to work? One of the main features of USB-C is the ability to supply power for charging the phone while simultaneously having USB peripherals work.
I tried using a Kingston Nucleum hub which supports this. I plug the hub into the phone, then I supplied AC to the hub. That works and triggers charging mode. I can also plug the hub into the phone (and not supply power to it) then plug in a USB peripheral. That also works, powers the peripheral and the peripheral works. All of this is standard USB 2.0 behavior.

Next I tried a USB-C mode. I supplied power to the Nucleum hub and the phone went into charging mode. Then I plugged a peripheral into the hub. The phone does not see the peripheral. I believe the phone went into USB device mode which is why it does not see the peripheral. This is not how USB-C PD mode is supposed to work. With USB-C PD the phone should stay in USB host mode and see the peripherals.
In USB-C PD mode the hub should be able to charge the phone. And the peripherals plugged into the hub should also work. This is a key USB-C feature which I can't figure out how to trigger on the A1. |
