This is the SP Flash Tool release of the
V1.0_20180525 system software
for UMIDIGI A1 Pro

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!
UMIDIGI A1 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

Changelog:
  • Video camera shutter speed control enabled (no more dark videos in low light conditions)
  • Other minor bug fixes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6739_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it (if your computer is connected to the internet) or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A1 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI A1 Pro to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal memory of your phone
  • Go to Settings --> System --> About phone --> Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update: >>>>> UMIDIGI_A1Pro_V1.0_20180525_update.zip <<<<<
It can update version 20180503 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
  • Your phone boots into Recovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy + 'No command'.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Hi, i just updated and i have some issues.

When trying to use the bokeh camera effect i keep getting the message "Make sure you ae not covering the lenses before you start shooting" and when turning on the EIS option for the front camera everything turns super dark.

Also there's and issue i had before this update and its with youtube videos, the highest resolution i can see them its at 720p60fps but for some reason the video seems choppy or laggy i have to lower the resolution to 480p for the video to play fluently.

In past posts i've seen that you recommend to perform a factory reset to fix some of the issues, i've done that but this problems still exist, i hope you can help me and thanks in advance.

Edited by goldman5 at 2018-6-1 22:21 \n\nAfter updating on May 25, 2018, VoLTE stopped working
The "Simprocess error or SimProc**** error" appears on the notification bar after the restart and will disappear
Restarting your device or factory settings will not help

Why stop working with VoLTE?
The phone has a high battery consumption when idle (there are applications from production only)
EDIT : Excessive battery discharge causes VoLTE turned on even though it does not work after restarting and updating

The processor even when the display is turned off still works at 299 MHz instead of Deep Sleep

Hi,
I can't reproduce your bokeh and youtube bugs. Maybe you should flash this update with SP Flash Tool.
- In bokeh mode normally you can see that message only if you cover the botom camera lens.
- About YouTube, maybe you have an unstable data connection.
- The video was always dark in low light conditions before this update. Maybe it will be fixed in relation with the front camera and EIS together in a later update but anyway it's simpler to disable the front camera EIS - you don't really need it.

The minimum frequency of the processor is 299MHz, it will never go lower, unless if you power off your phone.
If you have such issue, please flash this update with SP flash tool in firmware upgrade mode.

Comments

When VoLTE is turned on, the phone does not switch to "Deep Sleep" and still operates at 299 MHz even if it is off, which is wrong! Turning off the "VoLTE" function, the phone has a much smaller power   Post time 2018-6-4 06:25

Hey i'm back again.

So i did the flash update and now the bokeh effect works great again but the youtube problem still exists but in a different way, now the video plays fluently for like 20 seconds and then theres like 3-4 seconds of the video lagging and then continues fluently.

I tried to check if my internet connection was the problem but i tried to use the app on wifi (2.4 and 5GHz) and with mobile data (4g) but the problem still exists.

Helllo,

I am experiencing similar experience with the person above. The youtube app only goes up to 720p60 but is very choppy and only watchable at 480p at best. I have tried flashing this version, the previous version, factory resetting, clearing cache , and uninstalling updates. Hopefully you would be able to help me.

Please note, there's an entry level processor with low multi-core processing performance built in this phone, so it may struggle with decoding higher bitrate videos, where multi-core processing is used.
