So i was wondering if anyone has found an acurate way to solve the problem of sim cards shorting out the phone. I have heard about the mic problem on this model and have found a solution. But i wanted to know if the sim card problem had been fixed. I have a nano sim card with AT&T in the United States, Yes i have checked the bands availble to this phone in the united states and there will be a connection so i am aware and that isnt a problem. I am also aware that the phone requires a high quality headphone to work and that the camera is not the best. I just really want to know if that problem is able to be solved, for example would i put a small peice of plastic on the edge of the sim tray to stop it from shorting out? Or are you supposed to install the sim when  the phone is powered off? Thankyou in advance

Such thoughts and advices are acceptable on independent forums but this one is a brand forum powered by UMI (by their effort). If I were a paid moderator hired by UMI (but I'm not), I'd remove this post since it violates UMI's reputation. Hope, you understand what I'm talking about.

First of all, if you just plan to buy a UMI Iron now, I suggest you to choose its successor, the Iron Pro. There are no known issues of that model yet.
The SIM tray and camera focus issues are not general problems, just a few users reported them. The camera takes pretty good photos normally. The slow USB connection and the clicking noise through the headphones output are general and unsolved issues.
Anyway yes, you should always install a SIM card while the phone is turned off.

Yes, I am looking at the seccessor of the umi iron. But i wanted to ask, has the engineering of the umi iron pro changed at all from the umi iron, because there was a general problem with the mic which could be fixed, but you as a consumer had to do that. Is that still an issue in the newer model?(im talking about the black rubber blockingthe mic) Im not asking for you to give away the companies engineering or anything, i just want to know, was there any actual new engineering put in to fix the problems that were there before?

The mic problem (caused by that rubber piece) is also not a general issue, just a few phones were affected.
Unfortunately, we don't yet know details about the new Iron Pro. Of course, to buy a brand new model among the first buyers always carries the risk of unexpected issues.

Thankyou for your response!!!! And one last queshton then im done here, did you insert the sim when the phone was off before you had ever used it, did you insert it a bit after you had used the phone (but phone was still powered on), or did you Set up your device, then turn it off, then insert the sim?
Thats pretty much my only worry
ANd have you even enjoyed this phone of yours in general? Do you regret your purchase?
