Hello guys, I would like to install TWRP on my UMI eMax mini, but I don't know how.
I tried to flash it through Rootjoy, but I just get a black screen instead of TWRP.
Then I tried the script provided on the Emergency Kit post, but it stucks at "waiting for device"
Finally, I tried to flash it using fastboot, but when I execute "fastboot devices" on command line, no devices are shown..

Any idea?

If somebody knows how to explore images, it would be interesting to know whats inside and what makes them different. Meaning, what does the one that I posted have or do that makes it work.

No.  does not work ------> WAIT FOR DEVICE!
Seems that:
When the device is turned on -> "adb devices" Recognize emax mini
When the device is on bootloader -> "adb devices" does not recognize mini emax

And ..... yes: iroot install a TWRP.

If you open a cmd window and type: adb devices

Is your device listed?

yes .. device listed when my emax mini is ON
when device is on fastboot doesn't recognize device list.

-------

i have the same problem (not only this lol)

Rootjoy is not yet compatible with emax mini due to the different proccessor. All other UMI phones are built with mediatek processors but this one.
Fastboot seems to be the easiest way to install twrp, but to put your phone into that mode might need a special button/time combination. Specific information is not yet available about that.

yes, it is listed and I can reboot it into fastboot, but then if I type fastboot devices there are no devices attached... :/

ok .... done. twrp passed (even root)
I did a lots of tests. I do not remember the perfect steps -__- sorry
try it:

- open cmd from recovery twrp umi emax recovery folder
- adb reboot-bootloader
- adb fastboot -i 0x1bbb flash recovery twrp_en.img
- reboot device to OS
- download iroot from windows pc http://www.iroot.com/
- get a root (This unlock the damage recovery)

sounds stupid ... but trust me, I tried everything.
this works

Hi,

Couple of questions.

How did you put it in fastboot? And did you perform the adb commands while phone was in fastboot mode? When you mention the recovery folder,is that the one from the repair kit?

Is TWRP working ok now, and didn't you have had deadboots/bootloops

Is iRoot also possible without TWRP?

Looking forward to your answers.

Hi,

Couple of questions.

fist command (adb reboot-bootloader) reboot on fastboot
after waiting logo rivers. when you're loading the logo, run the other two controls.
the folder is "recovery umi emax mini"

Is TWRP working ok now, and didn't you have had deadboots/bootloops. -> after iroot, yes. but I can not install the cm; maybe my problem maybe not...

iroot should work without the first steps

ADB commands work when your phone runs the Android system and USB debugging is enabled in the developer options. So, that turned out, you can push the emax mini into fastboot mode by the 'adb reboot-bootloader' command. Then you can run the twrp installer since that works with fastboot commands. Or, you can send the fastboot command by your own. Open a command prompt in the folder of the recovery image file and input

fastboot flash recovery twrp_en.img

The '-i 0x1bbb' switch is quite not needed if there's only one device in fastboot mode connected to your machine.
