Hi all, same problem here, it's very strange, on the road the gps is very unstable, however the signal reception is very good.
did your umi super get those green dots using engineer mode ?

Hi, I tried the same. MTK tool is able to get great signal from satellites but once you run for example Google maps it start to have a problem to get GPS signal. It reconnect every 5sec and accuracy of the position is strange. I think it has to be a SW problem as we are able to get GPS signal with the MTK tool

I send back phone...
But I think to try gps with disabled wifi and bluetooth and network signal as in airplain mode..
I saw in some gps test app that when gps is jumping it loss compass position… maybe some signal interference with gps?
Can someone try this?

I think it's a problem with glonass satellites, that makes wrong calculation or an interference with the gps. It's the first smartphone which the glonass is active.

I've had many glonass enabled mobiles, believe it's nothing to do with it, glonass should make your position even more stable and accurate; nor the Wifi or Bluetooth should interfere.

Btw the signal level might seem to be good in the GPS test software (oh, it's green!) but if you watch the actual signal levels carefully it's not stable at all and I can hardly ever see levels over 20, very rare to see something like around 30 (of of 99).

I found some information that original plastic cover has some aluminium coat which make worse signal. I have the cover so I tried to locate GPS signal without this shity cover and was able to catch GPS signal in my car! Sometimes it had a problem to identify right location range 7m, but it works.

what about adding some aluminium foil connected into the gps antenna under the cover. That could intensify the signal reception. Tips read on xda here.
Caution : you may loose the warranty if you unscrew the back cover.

It seems that UMI are saying GPS problem is a hardware issue and to send it back to purchaser for repair. This is the reply I received from bencebasci..
The GPS issue howerver is a specific (probably hardware) problem at some devices. If it makes your phone useless, I suggest you to contact your reseller to get your phone repaired or replaced.
If this is the case, there could be a lot of phones being returned :-(

Not really a lot, just keep it in mind, satisfied users won't come here to tell us how well the GPS or anything works in their UMi phones. Except if they can won a gadget in a campaign.
Even the greatest/most expensive brands are involved. For example if you google for "samsung galaxy s6 gps issues", you get a lot of search results about such complaints.
