2 weeks ago I bought a new battery for this phone and I received it yesterday. I changed the battery then I flashed the phone again, with the hope that the old battery was defective. But it wasn't. It's a very big disappointment.
Umidigi is now focusing on their new releases and the custom OS for them (will that custom OS work as bad as this do it?). But I still hope that there will be, sometime, a good software update for this phone.

OK, now I've done what I should have done much earlier: downgraded my UMI Max back to Android 6. Hav ...

I'm too a fellow downgrader and I'm much happier now, as you've stated, with charging time and overall usability. The only issue is with the fingerprint, that is much more unstable, but I'm willing to take this as long as I can use my phone like before. The issues in Android 7 are real, although they don't acknowledge it. Now my WiFi is stable again and it's charging faster and discharging slower. Overall, it's a much faster and smoother experience. As you said, it's dissapointing that Umi couldn't come up with a reliable update. One thing I'm sure of: this phone is the first and last of this brand.

Another update coming?

I'm sorry but the UMi MAX will probably not receive further updates.
Despite the very long time test period, personally I can't confirm any Wi-Fi or battery related issues reported here. According to my measurments (with this latest Android 7.0 update) the battery life is one of the bests that you can get with any smartphone, that does not look like a brick.

UMI MAX V7.01_20170613  PCMark Work 2.0 battery test. - My test result above with a year-old battery inside.

To be compared, the same test result is just 5h 43min on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and just 5h 42min on OnePlus 3, two high-end smartphones from the same age. The UMi MAX result available on Futuremark's webpage with Android 6.0 is 8h 52min, so a slightly shorter battery life under Android 7.0 is visible, that I also can confirm by my experiences. It's caused by the not perfectly built code of the Android 7.0 base system. It was not accidentally followed quickly by 7.1.1 and 7.1.2.
Your opinion is respected, of course but the voltage regulator of your phone can be defective (short inside the chip) too, causing unexpected battery drainage and possibly other bugs due to the unstable power supply. In that case your phone needs to be replaced.

In any case this doesn't seems normal to me.
The phone was locked and inactive.
The battery loose 2%/h while phone locked. This is very strange.

So UMIDIGI will let your users with an awful android 7.0 rom, pretending that it has no problems, even with a lot of users testimonials, blaming google for making a bad version of the system?  A good reason for me never buying a UMIDIGI again.
I've downgraded to Android 6 too and despite of ghost finger print scan bug, everything else is better. The battery lasts not "slightly" more, lasts too much more! And the charging time, what difference! 2h30 for a full charge with the default charger, not 10 hours.

Even if the "battery drain" was not solved, I've expected at least ghost finger print scan and slow charging to be solved.

"the voltage regulator of your phone can be defective (short inside the chip) too, causing unexpected battery drainage and possibly other bugs due to the unstable power supply."
So hundreds of phones have defective chips, right? Cause it seems Umi Max phones aren't work correctly for most of us. In this case I think you should do something to solve this, else people will not trust you anymore. I own this phone for six months but I had the worst experience with a phone. And personally, $160 are really hard to earn. It's a very big disappointment, I'm sorry.

And, oh, if you know Android 7.0 is bad coded, why you don't upgrade to 7.1.1 or 7.1.2?

I had same problem with this (I downgraded to Android 6 for a while), and I didn't use Bluetooth or location (because I don't need them) and the battery draining is the same. You can check previous posts to see pics.

''So hundreds of phones have defective chips, right? Cause it seems Umi Max phones aren't work correctly for most of us.''
A statement that has no evidence, I'm afraid, and I spoke conditionally. Please turn off all notifications on your phone and run the PCMark Work 2.0 battery test. Let me see your result. On my device the 8-hour result is definitely not bad.
Android 7.1.x kernel is not issued by MediaTek. Even the newest models can be released with 7.0 only, at the moment. The Helio X27 is the only exception.
