Despite the fact that the blue dot is  ...

I followed this method today but the  GPS is still not functional, constant jumping around & can't locate satellite.

There is a hardware or software problem & i think it is now time UMI to admit & come forward with a solution or replace our devices!

The satellites should turn green after a few seconds, also use this app for GPS test: https://play.google.com/store/ap ... gps.test.free&hl=it

Hello from Germany.

I got my UMI Plus on Friday. First I installed the latest update and after that I have done a factory-reset. The factory-reset after the update was a tip from the German speaking forum.

When I looked at the APP permissions, I noticed that Google Maps has only the GPS permission and no memory/Data permission. I gave Google Maps all permissions and tested the GPS (Google Maps and HERE).

- Indoor (WLAN and satellites) Jumps and partially complete incorrect position
- Indoor (mobile data and satellite) No jumps and quite accurate localization
- Outdoor (Mobile data and satellites) Good navigation, no jumps and accurate localization

Can you adjust the APP permissions of Google Maps and re-test the GPS?

Do you have only problems with Google Maps?

Hmm, maybe is the WLAN connection a Problem too. On every outdoor test was my WLAN deactivated. I used only the mobile data.

Edited by Fyodor at 2016-11-8 05:48 \n\nWell, this might sound like a bad time to tell a joke, but here goes!

How to have UMi phone with working GPS. In 3 steps only.

1. Take another phone, say Ulefone Vienna, which also has good audio hardware.
2. Using a permanent marker, write the word 'UMi' on the Ulefone Vienna.
3. Here it is, now you have a UMi phone with working GPS.

Jokes aside, I mentioned this specific phone because it has a full plastic back, that means radio signals penetrate regardless of phone orientation in relation to source AND there is so much space behind a full plastic back to implement proper antenna placement, that is size, distance between antennas etc.

On the other hand, a metal back phone must have all antennas behind these small plastic parts, close together, maybe not optimum design of each antenna due to space constraints. AND signal source must have a clear line of sight path through that small plastic part onto antenna itself, which obviously is not always possible, depending how we hold the phone in relation to signal source.

Sure, the metal looks better, but...

Anyway, I keep my hopes up maybe they messed something in current version, and even if they don't know what it is, it will be fixed in Nougat with the all new code and all.

Just my 2c.

Fyodor

I'm hoping Android N fixes this, my GPS did work somewhat today but you definately wouldn;t want to be doing much navigating with it. Sometimes my location shifts 30 meters to the left or right off the road when i'm driving in a straight line.

Also the speed is way out!
