Maybe that is the reason why someone (not me) put a cross in the inside of the shell 20160703_200337.JPG

Dear UMi users,

Despite the strict control of manufacturing, a very low amount of defective devices may leave the factory sometimes. Not even the high-end models of the greatest brands are exceptions.
Galaxy S6 Edge GPS Issues
iPhone 6S GPS Problem
Some defections get discovered only after a few hours of usage or caused by the environmental conditions while the device was being shipped to the buyer. If the WiFi, 4G, GPS or even bluetooth services don't work properly, that's not always about a software bug or an antenna connection issue. Even if just a small SMD resistor on the motherboard doesn't work at its reference value, that may cause an unstable working of the related hardware.
However, you are always covered by the warranty that your reseller provides you. That's always possible to return a defective item for a replacement if you bought it from a reliable retailer.
We at UMi while apologize for any inconveniences that a such defective smartphone of ours causes, sincerely ask you to not to try to repair it by your own. If you read about a solution somewhere, you never can be sure that will work in your case as well. However, by such attempts you risk the warranty of your purchase and may cause even more serious troubles in your device. UMi never releases a new device that shows considerable defections after thorough testing. There are no UMi smartphones on the market with bad working mobile data, WiFi, GPS or bluetooth due to ill-considered design. All such issues are the results of accidental, unforeseen conditions and are covered by warranty.

Sincerely yours,
Bence@UMi

Edited by Tino at 2016-7-4 17:30 \n\nDear Bence,

thanks for your explanation. But what can I do in my case? The phone was already open. At Gearbest a Ticket is open but this is going to take time. In the meantime I don't have a working phone. Do you any opportunities to speed up this case? What happend if gearbest says "no warranty because of self repair"?

I hope this is going to take a good end. Otherwise I have to lern from my mistake and UMI Super was my first and last UMI cellphone, which is a good phone actually.

Best Regards
Tino

Dear Tino,

I think you still can return your phone for a replacement, just send it back in one piece. There's a very little chance to receive a defective phone again, while your chance is not better at other brands. So I ask you to consider your decision about UMi if anyway you like your Super.

Regards,
Bence

Dear UMi users,

Despite the strict control of manufacturing, a very low amount of defective devices ...

Unfortunately Bence the UMI warrenty seems to be worthless.
I contacted Tomtop over a week ago to request a return. They have refused to respond.
Contact with UMI support just resulted in a cut and paste statement.
Instead I have has to resort to opening the phone myself to try to find out issues.
As I'm sure you can accept this is not acceptable in buying a new phone.

This is my GPS experience on my UMI Super:

I am going to wait for the Gearbest answer. If they do not accept an exchange I am going to open a case on paypal. That is my last hope.

Tino: exact same symptoms with my Super. I've opened it too, since I doubt sending it back and getting another one would be either quick or easy, so if there is an easy solution I'd attempt to fix it. So I've tried fiddling with the pins, with the antenna (silver foil), done all possible software solutions (3-4 possible MTK solutions out there), but to be honest after careful testing I couldn't get any big improvements. I am very sad as its 'a really a good phone otherwise .

4G is very stable on mine.
