I have the exact same issue as most people on this thread:GPS fix seems ok at first (fix quite ok speed), but -especially when driving- it constantly jumps around, locking on other streets, looses gps signal sometimes and turns around.
During some tests with some GPS stats/fix apps, I noticed that while just walking the gps would be ok and fix to 7-12 satellites at 5-6m accuracy, then loose a couple satellites and have acurracy of 20-30m for a few seconds, then loose orientation etc etc.

I've tried all of the fixes prosposed for Umi phones and Mediatek 6xxx in general (even though most are EPO fixes that the mediatek 6755 does not use) and no luck
Some say disabling the wifi helps. To me one time it was better, the next just the same, so I don't think it makes much of a difference.

I am in SouthEast Europe (Greece), and I had no problem with all my previous phones (Honor 7 - Huawei- being the latest).

I've run across threads saying it is a marshmellow issue, to general software issue, to -most- saying it\s some sort of hardware issue of the mediatek gps chips.

I'm gonna try a few more things and then the tinfoil "solution" :

In general this is a major issue. Even phones taht cost much less don't have such problems. Fixing at 6m accurancy is fine, but loosing signal, jumping and turning around makes it unusable.

Dear All
I have just try this solution.
1. Go into your phones "EngineerMode" (most Mediatek devices have this) by typing *#*#3646633#*#* into the dialer (it can also be accessed through MTK apps from playstore).
2. Go to the "Location"-tab and select "Location Based Service".
3. Go to the "AGPS"-tab and turn off AGPS by deselecting "A-GPS On/Off".

4. Go to the "GPS"-tab and make sure GPS is off, then clear all presets in your GPS chip by seperately choosing the "GPS MODES" Full, VzW Cold, delete EPH, delete Time. After each selection press the "DELETE" button. (maybe deleting the "Full" one os enough, not sure)

5. Now go into an open space that should give the best possible GPS reception. Turn on GPS (AGPS stays off!), then swipe over to the "VIEW"-tab and wait for your phone to find sattelites. It will take a little longer because it has to start from scratch, (but I don't think it will be more than 3 minutes) Might actually take up to 30 minutes! Use Google Maps as a reference. Position needs to be rock solid and on the spot! (Wait for it to have a really good position though - like at least 8 green sattelites.) Once you're confident with the result -->

6. Go back to the "GPS"-tab, turn off GPS, then click on "REF POSITION" and choose "APPLY LAST LOCATION".

7. Go to the "AGPS"- tab and re-enable "A-GPS On/Off".
8. Go to the "GPS"-tab and enable GPS (it will now download AGPS data).
9. Enjoy fast location fixes and a stable GPS signal!

After I checked the gps fix and it is a little bit better.
I hope  during the next navigation with Google Maps or Waze I will have not another times jumps around, locking on other streets, looses gps signal sometimes and turns around as ithilmir.
I will update you early if the trick is good solution or not.
Best...

yes...exactly... I have pasted from the Umi Super Forum...
I m surprised after many posts about the problems for the  Umi Super devices about the GPS that Umi is continuing to say it is only a isolated case...

Me: We are awaiting your response about the GPS issue that many of us have reported in the forums. Replacing the phone is your final answer regarding that topic? if that is so, please tell me so I can communicate that all users and we shall take a decision based on your response. thank you very much for your time.

Umi: I personally asked such users many times in the forum to request to repair or replace their devices.

Hi, unfortunately I am also one of the 'isolated' customers with a poor GPS quality in my Umi Plus.
Position can take minutes to fix and, when it does, it can perfectly be a hundred meters from the right one.
In addition to that, the stability of the signal is so bad that it is constantly losing the position.
On foot it is really bad, but by car the GPS is absolutely useless.

What a bad surprise for a Smartphone that could have been a great one if it wasn't for this.

Thank you all guys for this useful thread anyway!
