no worries - i know they can't always be online to see questions and respond too. i'm no way affiliated with them, though i could provide some pretty solid support!

anyway, digging around through some of the other ROMs for the Power 3; i did notice one user that is pretty savvy like myself found that with 1.3 another launcher can solve the sound issues. i haven't gotten around to trying it myself to verify, but if so; the issue lies within the QuickStep launcher and nothing else. i prefer Evie launcher as it doesn't have that stupid persistent Google search bar at the top ::eyeroll::. as for the updates, i haven't gotten any. i've been checking back here for updates honestly lol nothing new pops up. i did read someone say around the end of May could hold an update. true? no idea. usually Ben responds with updates and patch information. and i go days / weeks without looking on here; unless i have an issue i'm working on with others. this issue though - a little beyond me. if it were a Sammy or a Moto device i'd rip out the ROM and start running it in VM to see what i can break lol but.. the UMI ROMs are quite different. since they use MTK (mediatek) processors, most of the things i try don't work. i did find a manufacturing flaw within my headphone port. one of the legs was shorting out against the frame and i thought i fixed it.. but then it went back to sounding like a tin can speaker. i'm guessing it's the launcher though. and before anyone reading says something about QuickStep, just know that launcher is the one developed for the Essential Phone PH1 - designed by the Android Gods..

about the 1.2 - if you're on 1.1 and it's running fine i wouldn't worry about it for now. i'm on 1.2, but sometimes if i reboot my phone it sounds like crap still; if i go mess with the Media volume, then it sounds like it should. but, if you really want to - go back to the ROM list and do one of two things: download the full ROM and SP Flash tool - or - download the UPDATE.ZIP file. the full ROM is the best way to go, but you will be erasing the phone, essentially. just be careful with the SP Flash tool; if you select the FORMAT option and proceed with the ROM write, you will be deleting the Google Authentication Keys and will no longer be able to use your fingerprint scanner or more. BUT - if you get the update.zip, copy that file to your SD card (if available; highly recommended you use an SD card), then power off the phone - hold volume up (+) and power together until you get some white text on the screen. use the volume UP key to select the first option to enter Recovery, then use the volume DOWN to select the Recovery Option, then navigate to the bottom lines and select 'update via sd' - it'll show a text based file explorer, go to your SD card and select the update.zip. let that run and do not disturb while you update. once updated, select 'wipe cache partition', then reboot. bam - 1.2. wiping the cache will help clear files that were previously in use with the later system software.

give Evie launcher a shot. i've had some pretty good results using this launcher on 1.2. i have not used this launcher with 1.3 to compare. FYI - if you haven't kept up with the 1.3 posts; turning off the voice activated Google Search (OK Google / Hey Google), actually takes away the effects. this is a relation between the launcher and the launchers activity response. i.e., activating search upon an activating word or phrase. no issues with 1.2 and another launcher so i may proceed with 1.3 testing soon.

I must comment my phone is yet 1.1 and had the issue with the speaker and also rejecting incoming calls. As soon as I disabled the f. Google assistant from the phone and from menu, the phone started working ok, no issues other than the speaker level is not completely ok, but it's clear and the audio at wired earphones is ok.

Hello, thanks for the information; I understand what you did. I'll go for the version 1.2 only if you know it will solve the compass and video issues that are the most annoying things for me. A video that I recorded looked choppy on my device but I put it on the laptop and it looked fine; so then I tried to see all the apps running and I found out a Q (from quick launcher?) but I am using a different launcher already. I almost sure the compass issue could be something related to the hardware and it couldn't be fixed but who knows. i hope they found a solution. The only told me to dial *#*#66#*#*  and then calibrate the gyroscope, but when I dialed it nothing appeared, I told them and they said they will tell the technician and I'm still waiting their answer.  I was looking for the codes for Power 3 myself  but I still can't find them. I don't know about the compass, I don't use it, but regarding videos and photos I'm using an app named Cameringo that works fine.
I found it while searching for the way to correct the horrible gamma mismatch of the built-in camera app. Using Cameringo and selecting fixed WB as fluorescent and then adjusting temperature and saturation with app's built-in controls, I could obtain decent colours. Same applies to the videos and those looks ok, not chopped. After disabling the Google assistant and using Cameringo, I see no issues with the phone, and I'm yet in 1.1_20200116 version

I,ve found the Camerigo app has a compass function. I tested it and worked ok a my Power 3. No issues at all.

I tried many methods to solve the bad sound issue like changing the launcher or tweaking with the media volume setup it does not work. So I tried installing the old versions V1.2 had same problem then i tried V1.1 the latest but this time the sound did not work at all but then when i used my earphones the sound problem was solved it works normally with or without earphones till now( it has been more then a day now) and I did try to restart and check it didnt work in the beginning but then i used the same technique now the sound is better.

don't forget to disable the Google assistant. Enter your google account and in "more" go to the Assistant and disable it for your phone.
