Hi,
1. Go to Settings --> Permiossion Management --> App startup management
2. Make all the apps you need to display notification in the background allowed.
3. For Gmail and other system apps (Google Contacts Sync to use google contacts in the contacts app for example) click on the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner, and enable all that you need.

I do not experience this problem with Gmail or WhatsApp notifications just noticed with Skype.
But yes I have noticed that Gmail is not always updating, I think something is putting this app in sleep and when I unlock my phone then it syncs.

By the way do not install Skype 8 because it is an utter crap.
I use Skype 7 - the last version

\n\nHad the sync problem with (only) Gmail since i got the phone last week.
While finding a solution, Google learned me it is mainly a Android 7 issue, not particularly a problem with this specific phone.
There are several tutorials how to fix this.
Everything is fine now.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, the camera performance is very poor.
Images are not sharp at all, ecspecially at greater distance.
Macro images and short range images seems ok, as long as you don't use the flash.
With flash, images looks greenish.

I like the phone, but the camera makes me very disapointed.
My previous 3 year old phone with 5Mp camera makes far better pictures........

Hope they can solve it by software improvement

Yes I have also noticed that taking pictures with flash renders them greenish.

Thanks for finding out that this Gmail issue is Android 7 in its early stages I assume.

these are some issues occurred.
although I have selected the correct data at power-on, COUNTRY=ITALY and LANGUAGE=ITALIAN
I have tremendous difficulty to:
a) change time zone from Shentzen to Roma/Italy
b) function "update date and time" from network doesn't work
c) change date format from AAAAMMDD to european format DDMMAAAA
d) I'm testing WITHOUT neither simS inserted but with wi-fi well connected
e) is there a way to change user, to logoff and logon with another user?

moreover...

f) wich way do you recommend to create an image of entire contents of phone? jdk+sdk+his_procedure or another way?
g) does umi ROOTJOY work fine?
h) considering iRoot, what is the best way to root a device? from pc with usb-cable or directly on device?
i) please take a look at image: does it is v.1.2 or I must update rom? why "reboot to boot loader" (INITIATOR I suppose) doesn't run?

Problems that I've found on the phone:
- camera image quality poor
- camera app slow and with few functions
- time lapse doesn't function (I can film but I can't reproduce it)
- adaptive brightness reacts very slowly and there are some problem going to an app to another one (screen comes more bright for some apps, or remain darker after reproducing a video from fb for example...
- gmail logo doesn't let me see if there are notifications (no red dot...)

i disagree with you concerning gmail syng under Android 7 Nougat..
I have a xiaomi that has been upgraded 2 wheeks ago with Nougat and gmail works properly. Why Umidigi didn't leave all progs enabled giving us the choice to disable what we unwant?
