My advice : forget the flip case with watch.
If you really make it work you will have another problem the circle window will give access at red close the conversation and it will close it if touch it. That because the proximity sensor it not work proper with the lid close.
I got the case from Amazon as well. It worked for the most part, even has a hang up button in the circle when on a call and I close 5he cover. I have had 5he issue of my phone freezes. I open the case and it gets stuck with the clock on. I have to hard reset to get it working properly.

This issue is UMI's software side : just install a sensor app, and launch magnetometer :
when opening/closing the cover, the magnetometer is just fine !
maybe those for whom it works can tell which version of software they have ?
mine is not working and i'm in build number : "UMI PLUS.V3.01_20161228"

i got a UMI PLUS, not UMI PLUS E
i updated the rom with http://community.umidigi.com/thread-11462-1-1.html (V3.02_20170613) for UMI PLUS
Now i can get the hall view working with a magnet only
i hope i can get a cover that will operate well...
sorry, i found the thread in 'umi plus e', but i have a 'umi plus', with same issue, sorry for posting in this thread (uniq thread on s view cover/ hall view)
guys here with umi plus e, have you tried to activate sleep mode/hall view, with the right side of a magnet near the magnetosensor of your phone, just to know if the issue comes from the cover or from a software problem?
