Dear Tom,

Please check on willmyphonework.net whether the UMi touch is compatible with the frequencies that are used by your service provider. You also can check the official specification page. Link: http://www.umidigi.com/page-UMITouch_Specification.html

Hi Bence,

thanks for your reply! Yes I did check if the phone will work even before I bought it. As per willmyphonework.net it is supposed to work flawlessly with any of the operators here on every band they offer! As per UMI's spec page it confirms the same!

But things are getting worse for me when it comes to connectivity - another problem popped up - this time with wi-fi! It seems like I can not switch off wi-fi any more. As per the toggle button in settings or quick settings I can switch on/off no problem, wifi active icon disappears and there is no data communication but the wi-fi is still consuming battery like it is switched on. The only way to stop it is to reboot the phone. But at the moment I switch wi-fi on again, the same issues repeats again. I noticed because suddenly during the night my phone consumed 8% energy(basicly 1% every hour) but normally it consumes only 1%. So I checked battery statistics and found this wi-fi issue which wasn't there before. To make it simple my wi-fi is consuming battery constantly like it would be ON all the time no matter if its on or off. Any ideas where the problem is please?

By the way when I received the phone, unboxed it, first thing I did the FOTA update and then installed my apps. I haven't attempted any root method, rom flashing etc.

Thanx a lot

Tom

Same issue as well, I received mine 7 days ago. Upgraded from a 4 yr old S3 that connected to 4G no problem, but with the touch I'm actually lucky just to get 3G! Often times in goes into 'E" or the Edge network! Makes me think it's a low signal issue.

Hi Tom,

Could you tell me which service provider in which country do you use?
To solve the Wi-Fi power consumtion problem turn off Wi-Fi scanning. You can find it by searching for it in the Settings menu - the magnifier button at the top right corner. That's enough to just type 'sca', then you can choose it from the list.

Bence

Please refer to post 21# in this thread. You live in the Americas, where no one of the LTE bands are supported and only a few of the 3G bands are supported by UMi Touch.

Hi Tom,

Hi Bence,

right now I am located in Thailand and my provider is TRUE - and in last 5 years I've never had any similar problem with my other phones(Oppo Find 7a, SGS3). Actually I found out what is the issue with being unable to get data connection on 3G and it is ROAMING. For some reason whenever I'm on 3G signal, there is little R appearing in the top corner so my SUPER thinks it is roaming even when it's clearly not roaming! And since I have the "data when roaming" disabled, my phone doesnt connect to 3G data. I have to manually enable the data-roaming in order to get connected. You may say why I don't keep it enabled if it sorts my problem but that is not an option. I am an airline pilot and travelling abroad on daily basis so you can imagine that leaving the option ON(or just forgetting to disable it) costs me huge amount of money in form of roaming charges. Is there a fix for this?

Regarding your advice with wi-fi scanning - did it and nothing has changed! Wi-fi keeps draining the battery just like before, irrelevant if wi-fi is toggled on or off! So unfortunately this procedure is not a solution! Just FYI the wi-fi consumption accounts for 27%-30% of the total consumption so it is HUGE and SERIOUS issue!

Anyway Bence thanks for your reply, hoping for some good news soon, brgds

Edited by Simoorg at 2016-10-5 05:09 \n\nsame thing for the UMI Super

confirmed:

GPS not working
4G not working at all
3G signal: very low
wi-fi signal: very low
camera : very poor "quality"

About my 4G config:

I've data included in my provider subscription
Network: Belgium (Scarlet = Proximus Network without roaming option needed like for Lycamobile)
All APN are valid and correct APN have been selected as default
SIM-card is in slot 1 (tried to turn off, remove, switch,... nothing helped)
SIM is working if used on another smartphone (so not defective)
Default network set properly
Default bande mode set properly

Wi-Fi is working properly (but only if very close from the signal source Vs others smartphones where I can still get signal far away!!)

Edited by florinmaxim at 2016-10-17 18:41 \n\nPlease tell us this problem can be remedied with a 4G connection so that we know what we have to do so in the future not to buy branded UMI.
I made phone subscriptions with 4G and all in vain as only loss go.
Please once again there are problems with a batch fabrication ??? tell the truth!
What's the point of all bother we need to know yes or no.
Then there needed to explore if and so are both only loss, lied and cheated with trade policy that go.

A good day and excuse my english

Hi,

4G was working without problem with Hungary's Telenor network. After a change to a Vodafone SIM, 4G is not working at all. It seems to be some technical problem, though the UMI Touch can handle 4G with a specific environment, it won't do it with another. This problem is hardware or software based, who knows, but I think neither way will we have a solution, because I haven't seen a software upgrade since may last year. So this seems to be a known and unsolvable issue, it's not a faulty batch of phones, but a hardware/software feature.

Regards.

My UMI Super only works in 3G Mode.
My SIM card is supported by 4G and LTE ( Fido) but I can't get the phone working on either ones.
Only 3G which is disappointing, any solution?
