I just got a new upgrade V3.03-20160423 and the 4G signal is much better than before. Previously, I had it set it to prefer 3G instead of 4G because of the low signal, but that seems to be resolved now. It is not just a boosted cosmetic metering, the data speed is really good

Hi,
The signal of my phone in LTE is quite good the problem is when you switch on 3G because it is not stable...Sometimes even if the phone shows 3G the phone does not have any connection... How Can I fix it? Can you work to improve the quality of 3G signal?
Thanks.

Edited by cserndoki at 2016-5-5 23:29 \n\nHi Everyone,
I've updated to the latest v3.03-20160423 update and the 3G/4G not changed. Bencebacsi was right, this wasn't a sofware problem. I've disassembled the phone and check the bottom part (gsm antenna) the antenna and the pins was connected, but just at the edge of the antenna. The problem: my antenna was a bit above and cross as it should have been. WORKING SOLUTION: So I peel off and stick back to the right position. Now I have 3G/4G everywhere, inside the house :-)
I've noticed the wifi antenna was a bit "cross" too, but I've not fixed it yet.
UPDATE: signal strength from:-115dBm 4asu goes to: -67dBm 11asu

Here's a tear-down video from UMI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owG8-tJeKjk
Just don't use a knife or any other metallic tool as in the video. Even your nail might be enough or use a thin plastic tool.

To the problem is much bigger!
When I set "celular network" / "preferred network type" to 4G (recommended) or 3G my Umi Touch is completely without signal. It only work if I set to 2G and signal is very week! Please fix it or tell how to do that. I have a Umi Iron and signal on 4G, 3G or any other is completely perfect! What happening to Umi Touch? My carrier is TIM and I'm from Brazil.

You probably have an antenna connection problem, not a software issue. It can be a misaligned antenna film or loose screws.
I'm afraid, your phone should be disassembled to check the antenna module. The first 2 antenna pins on the right stand for the GSM antenna.

Thank you for your prompt response. Yesterday I did that procedure. I disassembled my phone but all  screws is firmly fastened (figure 1). About figure 2 I do not understand if there is any procedure that I have to do, or if it's just to show how should be the components.

I think that this is ok. Band Mode:

Umi Touch
======
- GSM Mode: EGSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900, GSM850
- UMTS Mode: WCDMA-IMT-2000, WCDMA-PCS-1900, WCDMA-GSM-900
- LTE Mode: Band 1, Band 3, Band 7, Band 20

Umi Iron
======
- GSM Mode: EGSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900, GSM850
- UMTS Mode: WCDMA-IMT-2000, WCDMA-PCS-1900, WCDMA-CLR-850, WCDMA-GSM-900
- LTE Mode: Band 1, Band 3, Band 5, Band 7, Band 8, Band 28, Band 38, Band 39, Band 40, Band 41

So, why Umi Iron 4G/3G works perfectly and Umi Touch NOT!
