[Review Roundup] What others are saying about the UMIDIGI S2

I raised a ticket with GearBest to say I was expecting an Android 7 phone, but as others have said, GearBest just cut and paste their standard reply which had nothing to do with my question. As Umidigi linked me to GearBest to buy the phone, I think they should ensure their sellers look after customers.

I am certain this phone was showing as Android 7 when I ordered it, but now the GearBest site clearly says Android 6 - did they quietly change it? Did others see Android 7 anywhere official before buying?

I have offered to give the phone a bad review on Amazon to see if that gets a response. As I said before I generally like the phone, the battery for example is great.

To be honest I knew that the phone would come with Android 6 upon release since Umidigi said so. I didn't really check what GearBest mentioned on their site but Umidigi was clear about 6 upon release. I don't get why they released it with 6 but that's another issue.. ;)

I don't agree that Umidigi was clear about Android 6, even today on this page http://www.umidigi.com/page-umidigi_s2_overview.html there is no mention of the word Android at all! This is an android phone and the OS it runs is obviously a fundamental point, but it isn't even mentioned!

there is a new android 7.0 ROM for the Umidigi S2. Is there someone who uses this ROM?

That ROM is a leaked test version for the next version of the S2 (with MT6757D processor), so it's not compatible with the current S2.

I saw you made a feedback that in Germany people's S2 with O2/eplus operate can't connect to the internet. Could you help us provide mtklog to solve this problem?
Process to do a mtklog: (video Tutorial: https://vk.com/video?z=video267491147_456239028%2Fpl_cat_updates)
1. dial #*#3646633#*# to enter programmer model,
2. wipe to find Log and debugging --- MTKLOG, click the button to start record mtklog.
3. Return to the main page and to show software bugs and problems in the phone. (in your case you need to show when your s2 connected or disconnected data connection but there is no internet.
After you show all of this, pls turn off record mtklog.  Connect your phone to computer, find in the internal storage file "mtklog" , and then make a compressed file "mtklog.zip", send this file to me, pls.

Hello, where can i find the ROM Android 7 for the Umidigi S2? I think most of the buyers are waiting for it. It is a high end smartphone, that must have an upgrade to android 7 and later android 8.

Hi,

I'm sorry but this model is being sold with Android 6 installed on it and without the promise of an Android upgrade. An Oreao upgrade could be just a promise now but if that had been possible to create a Nougat ROM for this smartphone, it would've been came out from the factory with Android 7, not with A6.
It's a good value for the price, middle range smartphone but that's maybe a bit euphenism to call it a high end smartphone, especially cosidering its $230 price tag.

WTF?! Why are Umidigi moderators saying different things? You're stating that the S2 will NOT have an update and your colleague is saying that it will have an update in 1 or 2 months (see screenshot in link)
